desertcart.com : iXS Helmet Trigger FF MIPS Black ML (58-62cm) : Sports & Outdoors

Review: So good I had to get another! - I've been rocking the older, non-mips version of the Trigger full face since January 2020. In August 2020 I broke my collarbone on a low speed jump on clay dirt and I decided it was time to step some of my gear up in case I fit my head or face. I got an iXS Trigger Full Face as well as iXS knee and elbow pads. In mid-May of this year (2021) I was at my local pump track learning transitions into the bowly sections and my dirt jump's stem slipped when I landed. The wheel went left, handlebars went right, and the full face helmet hit hard right on the jaw on the middle curve of the bowl. I smacked hard enough to get a concussion. One of those situations where MIPS might not have helped much, because the main impact was on my chin and forehead. Without the full face chin-bar on the helmet I strongly believe I would have gone home with my jaw wired shut. I'm in the boat where I believe that if you get a concussion, the helmet is likely toast and there is definitely unseen damage hiding in the EPS foam. I'm super excited to have a MIPS version now though, in case I do hit my head again. I love the burnt orange color, it's got a really cool matte finish. And I couldn't be happier to have a light weight helmet that feels like a half shell XC helmet but offers the crash protection of a downhill certified full face. I have to mention that the MIPS system lives on rubber bits, which I haven't seen before. Usually the MIPS slip plane is connected to hard plastic dots inside the helmet. I noticed right away that it doesn't squeak or feel different than my non-MIPS Trigger FF. The size for me is perfect. I ordered a M/L and I have a large head. For reference, the widest part of my head measured at just over 60cm (or 23 5/8 in). I have room to tighten the helmet with the adjustment dial too. Pros: •Super light weight •Two sets of cheek pads to dial in fit •Reinforced chin bar means it won't collapse if you slam on your chin •Lots of ventilation •Visor is much easier to move than the previous version •The dial adjust fit system makes this helmet better than the rest, most other brands offer didn't sized pads which increases helmet heat, or nothing at all to help snug the helmet up on your head •Rubber grip for goggles on the back •Unlike my Giro Disciple, the MIPS system doesn't squeak •Fid-Lock magnetic buckle system is so much easier than a D-Ring buckle to deal with. I have no doubt that this will hold in all types of crashes. Cons: •Isn't cheap, but it's still cheaper than whatever hospital visit you might have in the event of a crash with a half shell on •No mesh in the front face holes, so don't fall on pointy sticks and rocks I highly recommend this product to anyone who needs lightweight full face protection. My girlfriend bought one and a friend of mine ordered one as soon as he saw mine.
Review: Cool, light, protective, Fidlock buckle is great - UPDATE August, 2025: This is my third season and I've progressed to double black trails at downhill bike parks and jumping 30 foot tables and gaps. I ride several times a week on the local trails and travel around, so yes, I'd say since the last update, I am now a real, experienced mountain biker! With that said, I am on my third IXS Trigger because I crashed two and they gave me a half off discount. Even if they didn't, I would still buy it because it saved my brain and works so well for me. I love this helmet so much I don't want to look to any other model! To keep out bugs, I cut up some window screen pieces to cover the holes in front of my ears. I believe it works. I may cover the other holes some other time. The medium weighs merely 624 grams. /////// ORIGINAL REVIEW: I wanted the most ventilation and mild full face protection for mostly trail and medium jumps. I may try a downhill park soon. I tried the Smith Mainline, Troy Lee Designs Stage, Bell Super Air R, and Bell Super 3R. It came down to the Trigger and Super Air R for fit, lightness, and especially ventilation. The Trigger won because I was not confident in the strength of the Super Air R's removable chinbar for riding aggressively. The other helmets were good, but heavier for downhill protection (=less ventilation), which I didn't need. The Fidlock magnetic buckle/latch is a fantastic welcome surprise. It's so much easier than regular latches and of course, 10x faster than D buckles. PROS: +super light +super ventilated +DH (downhill) rated just in case +Fidlock magnet buckle makes it amazingly easy CONS: -cost ($240) -wish it had screens covering the holes to block out bugs and protecting against debri

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lightest and Probably the Best Value in FF Helmets
*by A***R on May 26, 2026*

Pretty great value. Ordered this one and the Proframe, ended up returning the Fox. Both fit about the same, true to the size chart. Fox has a bit more gloss, more expensive looking. But the iXS has easy adjustment and the quality is similar enough, considering the price. And let's not forget this is the lightest pro-quality FF helmet. The light weight and lots of vents mean when you do have to pedal it doesn't feel like you're wearing a moto helmet.
