We've had this book since my son was almost a year old and he'll be two in less than a month. I bought this book used from Amazon for less than $5, and I took it to work with me and had a co-worker help me translate everything into Spanish and I wrote it in sharpie underneath the English words. This is what my son brings me when I say pick out a book. He absolutely loves it. Though it's now in 3 different parts/pieces (books are not meant to be stomped on and rolled on and folded over), we look at it almost every day. We look at the pictures and I ask him to find something and he points to it and then we say it together in English and in Spanish. He has his favorite pages of course, but he can identify almost everything in the book, in both English and Spanish. I plan on buying this book again, along with it's friends "First 100 Animals" and the others. It's big and sturdy and the pages are easy for little hands to turn. The pictures are bright and colorful and close up. One of the best things about this book is that the pictures are real items, not drawings of things. With other books of similar type, I see my son trying to figure out the difference between a drawing of an item and a picture of the same item, and I think that the pictures create a clearer more realistic 'definition' in his mind. I would buy this book again and again. By adding the Spanish translations to it, I found a way to take something my son really liked and turn it into a fun and creative learning tool for both of us.

This large board book is great! The size and durability is perfect for baby and toddler. My toddler enjoys flipping through all the pages and pointing to the pictures. I also read the words and objects out loud and she likes to point. Perfect learning tool for our children.

I was reading a book about how important pictures are to a toddler and older infant; not because you are trying to teach them words, but because the images validate or affirm their experience of the world. I have the 100 first Animals in this series, and all my 8 mo old would do is stare at the cat and dog; animals he has seen before. So, it made sense to give this book, with other images he has seen, a try. I think looking at a giraffe or crocodile doesn't make a lot of sense to him now. He has never seen those animals. He likes this one...he stared at the bathtub page and the rubber duckie. One of the duck images looks just like the one we have. My only complaint is that there are too many images. I'd love to see a smaller, more simple book- because so many images and colors its a bit overwhelming at this point; a little sensory overload. Im sure if he was a little older it wouldn't be a problem.

This book is educational if you want your baby to know basic vocabulary. An absolute must have book for your baby. My go to if a friend has a baby shower. All 5 of my kids enjoyed pointing to the pictures when asking what something is (about 9-12 months) and then pointing to the correct picture when asked where something is (12-18 months) my older 4 kids wore our first book out, so naturally, I bought my current baby a brand new one, and he agrees with his siblings!!

Best book for language acquisition! Big pictures, colorful and durable paperboard pages. I used with my own kids I always give for shower gifts.
