How easy is it to get the cables in and out please? You can't really see if the clips are made from a hard or soft material.

I find that a standard iPhone cable is actually a bit too thin for this and comes out too easily if you move your phone on your desk for example. But a slightly thicker cable sits in it nicely and will stay put if you move it about, but easy to slip it out if you mean to

How easy is it to regularly insert and remove cables, or is this only intended for semi permenant attachment of cables?

I use these only for intermittent attachment of cables, principally when they are not in use for charging etc. For permanent fixing of cables, you should/ could consider a dedicated permanent cable clip.

Can we use this for toothbrushes to hang on the bathroom wall?

Not toothbrushes. It’s meant to hold mobile cables etc
