Needles made the difference!
I use a Singer X5004-HD serger. It originally worked perfectly with the factory setup and I had no issues at all.The problem started immediately after I changed the needles to the ones included in the machine’s accessory kit. Right away, I began experiencing skipped stitches on lightweight fabric — not constant, but frequent enough to be noticeable. I tried adjusting tension, stitch length, and differential feed, but the issue still persisted or only improved slightly depending on the settings.What was interesting is that the machine itself was clearly fine — the behavior changed with settings, but the skipped stitches never fully disappeared with those included needles.I then switched to Schmetz ELx705 80/12 needles, and the difference was immediate. The serger now runs perfectly on all normal settings with zero skipped stitches. Stitch quality is consistent, smooth, and reliable across different fabric types.In my case, the issue was not the machine at all, but the included needles. The Schmetz needles completely resolved the problem and restored perfect performance.
