I bought a cheap duffle bag for every day carry to the gym and work. My dog liked the taste of the shoulder strap and managed to chew three quarters of the way through the webbing before I caught him. I lived with the frayed strap until I saw this item on Amazon. I didn't have high expectations until I opened the packaging and felt the heft and sturdiness of this strap. Way better quality than the original strap it is replacing. The seat belt material the strap is made from is thick, with a great tactile feel. It's both smooth and substantial. The shoulder pad for the strap, which attaches with velcro is quite well padded and stiff. There's a velcro black and gray American flag patch that can also be attached to the top side of the padding. Nice touch! I used the strap tonight after adjusting it as I wanted. The strap is plenty long to lengthen or shorten and fit well for most people. It's also nice enough to be used on any duffle or messenger bag for shoulder or cross body carry. The hardware and clips to attach the strap to the bag also seen to be pretty heavy duty, giving me confidence that it will last, unless my Husky gets to it when I'm not looking. For the price, it can't be beat. I definitely recommend this shoulder strap for anybody looking to replace or upgrade their old one.

As a contracted professional, I need to carry my records, paperwork and a few basic office tools with me to the job site, so I carry a heavy, sturdy shoulder bag. One of the metal clips on my original strap broke after 9 years of heavy duty use, so I bought this replacement. I already see a couple of problems. First, the clips are plastic, not metal. From past experience, I don't expect plastic clips to hold up long. Second, the strap is too long. Even when the strap is completely doubled over (ie: half-length), the bag hangs near my derriere. I've had lots of bags over the past 40 years and all the others could be to my waist-line in order to allow my hip to carry a little of the weight and reduce any swinging or bouncing. Trust me. When you carry a super heavy bag, you want to carry the weight up high, and even swing the bag onto your lower back if you need a break. You don't want it swinging and bouncing below your hip (ie: bouncing off your derriere). Since it just arrived, I am hoping for the best and only took away one star, but I suspect this strap will merit less stars.

I wish I had seen the worst reviews before buying. The strap is sturdy, but the pad slid around and fell off to the point the pad was worthless. It's getting three stars because the strap is so sturdy. The pad was thick enough, but I'd have to give the pad alone one or two stars because it kept slipping and falling off. That was a real pain going through airports. This replaced an uncomfortable strap with no pad, and this pad was comfortable when it stayed put. During airport hikes, I had to stop constantly to readjust and even to pick the pad up off the floor. Somehow, the Velcro came loose repeatedly with the slipping and sliding. Right out of the package, this looks like quality construction. It would've gotten five stars if I hadn't used it. The strap is sturdy and strong. The clips look like plastic, but they seem strong. The pad is thick enough, but for whatever reason wouldn't stay put. The strap itself is wider and better quality than straps that come with most fabric bags. Maybe it will get some future use for a different bag that doesn't have to go very far. The flag patch comes separate separately in the package.

So. We lost the strap to our Yeti cooler. Didn’t want to pay a fortune for just a strap. Found this awesome strap for an amazing price!! Works perfect!!!!! Love it.
