10 Stars with one trick. Read THIS review
OK, so I am happy with the quality, the smooth and quiet operation and it comes with a hard and soft buffing wheel. I purchased to buff stainless steel bolts on hunting rifles. I am pretty sure this is the same unit HF sells with about the same reviews.Well, went to buff my bolt and the wheel choaked down and almost stopped. Tried again, the same issue. I was really disappointed. Then I got an idea!I removed the wheel I was not using (soft wheel), the spacer, the two-disc, and the nut from the other side. Voila! Wow! What a difference. It screams! I had to hold my parts very tightly or they would be forced out of my hand. It was like a different buffer. Feels strong and capable of anything now, but still small and quiet and affordable. If you try this on yours, post an update. Mine went from night today and I just love it now. Try my trick on yours.

Great bang for the buck!
I was a little hesitant at first about this buffer. I've used more expensive buffers before (Caswell), but this one was a pleasant surprise. Most of my work is on small parts, so a 6" 0.5 HP buffer fit the bill. Out of the box this buffer hummed. Smooth, no wobbles or shakes. It even included two wheels! As others have stated, it is heavy enough with a large enough footprint that you could get away without fixing it to a table/stand.If you're working on larger parts, step up to an 8" 1 HP buffer. Otherwise, this is a great buy!

Machine is good, stock buffers do not last very long
The buffer itself works well. Use some practice pieces and make sure you pick up polishing compound because it's not included. You do need to bolt it down a bit, mine travels on my work bench. The stock buffers shed a LOT at first, before settling down after a few polishing sessions. Still sheds now and then but I should get a few more sessions out of it before I move onto an additional set I purchased (wider). Overall, fits my budget and gets the job done.

Excellent buffer!
Got it 2 days after purchase and package was in perfect shape. Came with all the spacers and flanges and 2 buffs. A hard buff and a soft buff. The buffer is very robust and durable. Very quiet and has very little vibration to it. If you just put something weighted behind this thing you don’t even have to bolt it down but it has holes predrilled so you can do so. I love this thing. Very nice machine for the price.

Knife sharpening.
I picked this up for the sole purpose of using a leather wheel for knife sharpening. For knife sharpening you want your wheel to rotate away from you which is the opposite rotation of how this comes. You could just turn it around but then the power switch would be in the back. An easy fix for this is to take the base off and rotate it so your power switch will be in the front and the wheel will rotate away from the user. Take the four screws off the bottom cover plate and also take the capacitor bracket off and two additional screws that hold the motor to the base, rotate the base then put the two motor screws back and a capacitor bracket and the four bottom screws that hold the cover plate and you're done. I found that it runs very smooth and is excellent for knife sharpening and for the price it is an excellent Buy. I would definitely recommend.

Works great and surprisingly quiet
It's a buffer, what can you say other than it has plenty of power and it goes around in circles really fast.
