## Overview

This 23"x23" unframed poster is a premium reproduction of Urbano Monte’s 1587 circular flat earth map, printed on high-quality matte paper with fade-resistant inks. Designed as decorative vintage wall art, it captures the intricate Renaissance-era cartographic style and imaginative details, perfect for history buffs and trend-savvy professionals seeking unique, conversation-starting decor.

## Description

This ArtcanthurtU unframed 23" x 23" art print is a scaled reproduction of Urbano Monte’s remarkable 1587 circular world map. The original work measured over 10 feet in diameter when fully assembled and consisted of 60 individual sheets forming a detailed circular planisphere centered on the North Pole. This edition presents the historic composition in a smaller display-friendly format that preserves the intricate layout and artistic character of the original. Due to the scaled-down size, the map’s small text elements are not readable, and the piece is intended primarily as decorative vintage map wall art. Monte’s map displays the world using a polar projection, with the continents radiating outward from the Arctic region. Created during the Renaissance period shortly after European awareness of the Americas, the design reflects the evolving geographic understanding of the late 16th century, combined with imaginative cartographic illustration. The map features regional notes, climate observations, distances, and decorative elements characteristic of Renaissance cartography, making it a visually distinctive historic world map suitable for wall display. Digitally reconstructed from the original atlas sheets, this reproduction reveals the complete circular composition as Urbano Monte intended it to be viewed. While the artwork preserves the historical design and visual detail, the reduced print size means the smaller map annotations cannot be easily read. For this reason, the print is best appreciated as a decorative historical artwork rather than a readable reference map. Printed on premium matte paper with archival-quality inks, this historic map poster offers a classic museum-style presentation suitable for homes, offices, libraries, or study spaces. Its detailed Renaissance-era design makes it an appealing choice for collectors, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking to add vintage-inspired cartographic artwork to their wall decor.
