Do the cars lock in, in any way so you can carry it around and the cars won't fall out or are they just sitting there?

Hey Jeanna, the cars don't lock in at all. I got this for my son for Christmas and he doesn't like it as much as the other one he has that's a truck and a carrying case. Hope this helps!

Does it fit matchbox cars?

It doesn't fit many of the matchbox trucks we have. A lot of the matchbox trucks have slightly oversized wheels so they're too wide to fit or they're too tall to fit on the lower levels.

I thought it had said comes with 2 hot wheel cars- but it didn't and since I needed it for a birthday I never went back to check. The item was wrapped in a plastic bag and put inside a cardboard box it did not come in its own box- so I thought perhaps it was a return without the 2 cars. Never the less it was nice and for a lack of time I did not go back and check. Hope this helps
