OREI 2x1 HDMI Multi Viewer Seamless Switch - 4K@60Hz RS-232 IR PIP EDID OSD

I bought the 4K Multi 2 in 1 out and it is great for Picture in Picture. It has 3 sizes and 4 locations just for PIP. I've got my cable box and a small PC connected. Perfect for watching a game or streaming from my PC in a PIP window during anything else on cable, or vice versa. The remote has too many buttons for me, but it does the job. I haven't found a need for the other screen arrangements or settings. I'm also not using the sound inputs, sound is perfect for me through the HDMI using optical from the TV. Welcome back Picture in Picture, I have really missed you!

I purchased this (HD-201P) box because I wanted the option to see my front door security camera (via HDMI player) while still watching TV. This unit is working absolutely perfectly for that. I'm glad I did NOT get the 4-way multi-view version for this purpose even though it had more inputs and not more expensive - that's just not the same as PiP. Pros: - PiP has several practical layout options including which corner of the screen and 3 different size options. Also supports side-by-side and weird stretch modes but you won't use those. - Both IR and RS232 support makes automation easy - No reduction in frame rate Cons: - RS232 control was a little glitchy but fixed after support sent me firmware update

Excellent product! Works mostly beautifully. In fact, in every respect except audio, I am extremely pleased. I cut the cable cord and my set-up consists of an ASUS monito(which I love)r, a VIEW-TV At-263 tuner(which works very well) a Yamaha ATS 1080 sound bar(which love) with HDMI and HDMI ARC ports, and the OREI switcher, a HD external antenna, and a ROKU+ streaming stick. WHen switching between the antenna and the ROKU, the sound sometimes cuts out until I select HDMI on the Yamaha remote. I had a cheaper FOSMON HDMI switch before the OREI unit and the problem never occurred with the FOSMON unit. But in every other respect, the OREI switch is vastly superior. Love the PIP and PWP functionality. It is a small glitch but seems to be connected with the OREI unit connections when I am switching inputs. I would still highly recommend the OREI unit.

This thing was exactly what I was looking for. The 4x1 was said to display ALL of the inputs at once even without a signal, so I assumed there would be an empty box on the screen. The 2x1 allowed me to have LIVE picture in picture with no frame drops. I used it originally to record a camera and a video game on the same screen without editing. Now the second screen doesn't send audio, so you have to record audio from second source some other way, but there are ways to do that. Anyways, pretty cool that a Feautre from 20 years ago is making a comeback with hdmi.

There is a lot to like about this unit. The design, form-factor, serial protocol, remote control, feature set for PIP (which is what I wanted it for) are really great for the money... BUT... 1. The video quality is bad, particularly on computer text. My desired app was to have a PC in the main screen with TV video in a PIP screen. But even in regular full screen mode, the PC image was being crushed by the internal scaler. also there is no 'pass-thru mode' which might have helped. 2. I left 3 messages for tech support and sales over 10 days and not a peep... These are deal-breakers so I had to return it for a refund...I can only assume that there are so many 4-5 star ratings because most people have absolutely no discernment...:)

Works superbly well. The construction quality is obvious. Great flexibility with the display options. Highly recommended!

Thought it may have been the cable but I tried 3 different ones and still no output to my projector. I have a smaller, more simple switcher that outputs to my projector and works fine. My projector doesn't recognize it. so disappointed.

Unlike cheaper switches, this one switches instantly and seamlessly. It also produces split screen and PiP for 2 inputs. I'm using this to switch two video cameras to an HDMI recorder to do real time editing, using a 9" HD monitor. However, be aware you have to select the correct input format in the input menu. Quick menu buttons are located on the front of the device.

Overall a fantastic product, I highly recommend this switcher over any other, and I've bought many. TL;DR.. +Software/hardware +No lag or black screen +PIP in any corner, 3 different sizes +Super intuitive +-Price -Only 2 inputs & 1 output -Only 1080p/60 -Only Orei model to offer PIP resizing and change corner Works great for my dual monitor PC and security camera setup, I bought this specific version of switcher because you're able to move the PIP window to any corner of the monitor and cycle through three different sizes. It switches the source instantaneously between inputs, with no black screen, as well as with size and preferred corner, the software and hardware running the switcher is great! Remote is easy to use and has no lag. Nothing about the product feels cheap in any way, solidly built metal chassis, runs very cool. I added rubber feet to the bottom so it didn't scratch my desk, it may not have. Two issues, both of which I knew before hand, but issues none the less; it's only capable of 1080p/60 and there's only two source inputs and one output. You can definitely tell there's image loss viewing 4K security cameras through the 1080p splitter vs. directly into the HDMI port on the monitor (even though my monitors are only 1080p) I wish Orei would manufacture a 3+ input 1+ output unit that you're able to move the PIP window around the screen and was capable of handling 4K - this switcher will work until then.
