How long is the cord? From the light to the sensor??

Cord is about 3 feet. Exactly the needed length.

What's the resolution of the sensor? Assuming you inched it up carefully, could you get within an inch or two of where you want it every time?

yes you can set up up to 6 inch , i have customer who did it and he posted a video on youtube. he use box fron big screen tV to imitate a car.

Will this device work if you back your car into your garage?

My problem is a narrow garage opening. I can't always pull in straight. Would these be any help on the sides of the garage opneing?

I have the same problem, and the answer may be the use of two or three of these, depending on your situation and layout. For me, one mounted on the end wall and one on the adjacent wall, adjusted to yellow, would warn me of, respectively, how far to pull in, and second whether I would hit anything to my right or left (stay in the yellow). There’re costs involved, and your garage may not lend itself to this crude attempt at trianglelation; but, it may work. I’m going to give a try.
