Simple yes or no answer please...** A: Yes. When fully opened, the arms that support the bottom of the bass are 12" apart at the back, flaring to 20" apart at the front of the "V" (12"+/- from front to back"). Back is 29" +/- high. Should fit nicely and be well supported. **Q: will this stand securely fit a 1/4 size student bass?** A: The separation of the lower support arms at the front is approx. 21-1/2", and at the back approx. 14". Length of the back support bars from the lower support arm to the top is approx. 29-1/2". Lower support arms are approx. 11-1/2" front to back. Based on the dimensions of a 1/4 size base as posted on Mark Gollihur's web site (https://www.gollihurmusic.com/faq/2-SIZES_DOUBLE_BASS_SIZING_FAQ.html) it looks like it would fit and would be stable. Final results of course would be based on actual dimensions of your bass. The stand itself is easy to use and is very stable and supportive of both of my basses. **Q: Would this stand work with a full size cello?** A: The support where you rest the bottom of the bass is 20" across at the front and narrows down to 12" in the back. It is 12" deep. The back "support" rises to 30." I hope that information helps. It has a place to suspend a bow also. This is the best stand I've seen, quite sturdy and well cushioned.
