Tripp Lite2-Port VGA Switch, Manual (3x HD15F) (B112-002-R)

This 2-way VGA switch is simple and very compact. However, the maker's claim that it will work with different operating systems did not prove true for me. It seems to work fine on a computer with Windows 7, but causes a problem on a computer which can be booted to Windows XP or Ubuntu 12-4. The problem is that the resolution will be changed to a lower value than is appropriate for the monitor, and the computer's image will not fit within the limits of the screen. I read a review for a different (though similar) VGA switch which suggested the same problem. Apparently you can't be certain that this type of switch will work if your operating system is something other than Windows 7.

This lil gadget works! If i ever needed another switch , I would be buying another one. I got this because I need it for my work at home job to switch from their computer to mine using only 1 monitor. with just the click of A or b, I was on whichever computer I wanted be. It comes in handy when you get bored talking to customers and you already know the scripts and the steps to helping them!! Make sure you buy an extra cable to connect both computers to this. I recommend getting another Coax High Resolution Monitor VGA Video Cable - HD15 to HD15 M/M.

This only works if you are satisfied with SVGA resolution on your monitor. I wanted to alternately connect my work MacBook Pro using the Apple Thunderbolt to VGA adapter to a Samsung SyncMaster 2343BWX monitor that I also use with a PC running Windows 10. Both of these combinations work fine when the monitor analog input cable is connected manually to one computer or the other; the monitor runs at its optimum 2048 x 1152 resolution. However, with the switch in place, neither computer can get the monitor above SVGA resolution. In fact the Mac just gives up quickly and pretends the monitor isn't there. Opening the switch up I note that many of the conductors are not switched (or connected in fact). Without digging into the hardware plug and play protocols I suspect that the computers are simply not fully communicating with the monitor and don't really know what is on the output ends of the VGA cables. My error I guess, should have taken their word for it that it's only VGA.

Worked well for what I needed. Only issue I had was at first I didn't press the A / B switch firm enough and the B button didn't pop out enough to make good contact. After exercising the buttons a few times it work great. For the price it's a good deal. It's basic and all I needed.

I have two laptops connected to one one monitor using this switch box. It works fine for me. I do not notice any difference between the monitor plugged directly into the laptops or using the switch box. Setup was a snap and it works without a hitch. When I push button A, it displays from my Toshiba. When I push button B, is displays from my Dell. I am not sure what more the switch box should do... at a really nice price.

Had to return as it did not work (my computer is very fussy about connections). The item probably would have fit my needs if my tv would have accepted the connection. A excellent product. Would recommend to others.

Nice vga switch box. Does not need it's own power source. Compact design. Can go from 1 source to 2 displays or from 2 sources to 1 display. My only qualm is that I cannot display 1 source on 2 displays simultaneously - I have to switch back and forth.

I encountered a problem with the switch and have contacted Tripp-Lite. I have 2 computers going to one monitor. My monitor is a Plug and Play device. When I go through the switch, Windows no longer recognizes the specific type of monitor (make and manufacturer). It uses a generic non-specific driver instead of the right one and this affects the display (resolution, type size etc). Because my monitor is Plug and Play a driver is not available through the monitor manufacturer. I was so used to the display, the changes are very annoying. I removed the switch and connected the monitor directly to the computer and everything is fine. I'll wait to hear from Trippe-Lite before I decide to send the switch back.

El producto realmente es pequeño, debe de medir no mas de 10 o 15 centimetros por unos 2 de alto. Pero funciona muy bien!, es fácil al instalarse y su funcionamiento es inmediato. No requiere toma de luz y por su tamaño es discreto en mi escritorio, altamente recomendable.

Hace su función sin problema pero es muy pequeño y la calidad de materiales es buena excelente compra
