Shiitake Plug Spawn Starter Kit - Grown Your Own Mushrooms

I'm in year 4 of this process and get increasingly more shrooms every year. First year I only got a couple. These are TERRIFIC eating shrooms, by far the most flavorful I have ever tasted. Very firm texture and full of flavor. Looking forward to the next harvest!

The plug spawn was nice. Viable and clean.I bought this kit because I didnt have wax and some sort of dauber handy and I was planning on buying plug spawn anyhow.There was plenty of wax and the daubers worked well and are durabl . There was actually enough wax to cover 200 plugs and I only used one of the two daubers for 300 plugs.

I gave this as a fun gift to my sister who minored in Botany. When I opened the box, I said, "Oh - what a mess." When she opened the box, she said, "Oh this is great!" and went on to name all the contents like she knew what they were for. I was surprised that the wood was not included. My sister said, "Oak? We can get some and drill holes." She was thrilled they were shitakes. I said, "Huh?"

Seem like it's not growing!Mayne it didn't like the hot sun!!! Oh well.

Wow, this box was great for our 1st mushroom experiment. Came just as described, fast shipping and easy to read instructions. Wax was melted ontop stove- the dabber was super helpful to seal up those holes! The one additional tool necessary will be a drill and bit. Recommended to use fresh logs <3-4 months old to ensure no other fungal growth. Husband and I can’t wait to watch em’ grow!!
