Thanks!** A: This is the Kreg Micro Drill Guide kit, and the large diameter for the stepped drill bit is 0.3 inches. The regular Kreg pocket hole bit is 3/8" diameter, 0.375 inches, quite a bit bigger than this one. Be advised that this kit is just what is shown, and you either need a compatible Kreg jig to hold the drill guide or some good clamps to hold it onto your stock for drilling. The Micro that will work with the 520 is the KPHA530. **Q: which is easier to use by itself with just a clamp -- this one or the kpha530? Never had any problems with Kreg tools ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great addition for use with hardwoods for your Kreg 720 *by F***Z on December 6, 2022* This is an accessory for the Kreg 720 and 720 Pro. The Micro Guide comes with the jig that has much smaller drill bushings and the smaller drill and matching stop collar. Most of my woodworking is with hardwoods. The smaller drill makes a substantially smaller hole allowing for the use of a Kreg fine thread pan head screw. These screws are far less likely to crack the hardwood. You may notice that on first use you will notice that your drill will have resistance. This is the drill cutting clearance in the plastic. After you do this, the jig will have "zero clearance". This clearance supports the drill better, making a much cleaner pocket hole with substantially less tear-out. Cool ! All that said, I would still drill a pilot hole in the wood receiving the screw.
