Best $600 kit. Easy.
This thing is an absolute BEAST for $600 with 2 lenses. This camera has far more pros than cons so I'll walk you through different stuff below. LENSES: Haven't used the 12-32mm much but the 45-150mm is great. It's really sharp for a kit lens and I also have their kit 14-42mm which is same quality IMO as the 45-150mm. This camera lens combo is sharper than some more expensive camera/lenses I own. IMAGE STABILIZATION: The Internal Image Stabilization is fantastic. If you have issues with it in video, turn the E-Stabilization 'Off'. That's what makes it really warp around the edges. Just use a Warp Stabilizer in post so you can control the intensity. For photos I crank it and it's truly amazing. This baby is m43 and I've used a canon FD mount 75-210mm lens on a 3x teleconverter with a dummy mount adapter and I can unbelievably sharp photos at moderately low shutter speeds. I'm able to take crazy zoom photos like never before. LOW LIGHT/NOISE: It's m43 and especially in photos there is a noticeable difference from APS-C and full frame. In some low light conditions you just can't get the shutter speed you are used to even with the ability to crank the ISO. But in daylight of course there is no issue. When I shoot videos I always am in good light or control my lighting. But honestly I feel I can get relatively better low light action in videos than photos, IDK, might just be me. I shoot video more so maybe it's inexperience in photos. SIZE/ERGONOMICS: AWESOME! I love the small size. It's about the same size as my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. It's easy to hold but it does feel pretty delicate. Someone else will have to 'test' the durability, haha. IMAGE QUALITY: Really clear and awesome. However it doesn't mix very well with cinematic cameras which I'm struggling with right now on a commercial I shot using this for B-Roll. Dynamic Range is pretty garbage, coming from a Blackmagic user. But compared to a lot of other similar market competitors, it's not bad. Highlights get blown quickly and shadows lose detail just as fast but for what it is ($600 kit) it's hard to complain. AUTOFOCUS: Here we go... Listen, it's GREAT! It focuses on photos perfect. It focuses in video amazingly too...as long as the subject isn't moving. Who are you? If you are a dad that doesn't like videography as a hobby and don't want to make edits, then use your phone to capture moments or look at some hybrid systems by Sony. If you are a hobbyist Videographer then start learning to focus manually because manual focus adds another dynamic to the art. For low budget 'pro' use. You likely aren't using autofocus in video anyway so who cares. This guy may have some bad marks, but when you consider the price point, this is easily a 5 star camera.

Best value for the dollar
UPDATED 12/30/2021 PROS: Comes with a 2-lens kit at an affordable price; has more features than any competitor at that price; well-constructed and solid housing; many other better brands such as Canon and Nikon have relatively flimsy construction, the menu screen is great better than competitors, great video. If you register with Panasonic, they gave a three-year warranty which came in helpful because I dropped it quite a bit. I attached a video of a band, and you can see the quality for yourself. This is in a nightclub with poor lighting and acoustics, but I think the camera did a pretty good job. No camera has everything, but all-in-all this is a great all-around camera. I can put it in my jacket or coat pocket if I am not using it. CONS: No built-in mic but not usually needed unless you are using it for professional video but there are workarounds for that. The sound is actually pretty decent for what I use it for. I attached a video. The viewfinder is small as noted but not as bad as people make it sound. The negative comments about the battery life or not having a memory card are nonsense or may have been used equipment or defective. I have had no problem with battery BUT I would STRONGLY recommend getting the separate battery pack and extra battery as I would for any mirrorless camera - that is how all of them are. ALL mirrorless cameras have a shorter battery life than an old SLR because mirrorless cameras are always in use when turned on. If you turn off when you are not using, it lasts quite a while, but unlike an SLR you can't just turn it on and let it sit there without using the battery. People who complained about this don't know how mirrorless cameras work. No camera comes with a memory card and not many come with a separate battery back. You could charge in-phone but that's annoying. I have no problem with the wi-fi either. Some people should stick with point and click if they don't want to bother learning how to use a slightly more capable camera. You would spend at least $1000 to get a better camera as of 2020. I paid $450 for the 2-lens kit somehow during a sale but even for the recent $600 price, it's a good deal. I got mine last year around Thanksgiving, but I did not see that re-offered at that price. Pictures attached are what I took, including some touching up. Video is out of the can, nothing else. For me the sound is good. I think this is the best camera in this price range and I would not spend more because I am clumsy and drop it a lot and would be really upset with a more expensive camera. However, Panasonic honored it's 3-year warranty (if you register it) so that was good. I did not buy the extended warranty but in the future, I think I would. The current price is $795; I paid $450. I still think it's a good camera, but I would wait for a sale. I believe the price increase is due to the supply chain issues.

Solid Camera with great features
For the current price, this is a great camera. I have owned a GF1/G1/GX1 and was interested in getting a newer body. The GX85 has exceeded my expectations. It has given new life into my Panasonic 20mm 1.7 lens by adding image stabilization that my other bodies did not offer. The camera is very responsive, and has a nice set of options for editing raw files in-camera if you are traveling. The 2 included kit lenses make a nice travel set, although I would still bring the 20mm with me for low light & small depth of field shots. I'll give a quick rundown of my pros and cons : Pros - Image stabilization for all lenses - Fast and accurate auto-focus. - Has a viewfinder...maybe not the best one around, but it works fine. - wifi for sending photos to phone - Quiet Mechanical Shutter / Silent Electronic Shutter - Full size strap lugs (works with Op/Tech straps) - Built in flash with ability to bounce - Great Raw Buffer (50 shots Raw, 41 Raw+jpeg) - Raw images can be processed by the last version of Lightroom 6.3 desktop. - Can charge through USB port. Cons ------- - Even at low iso settings there is some noise in the images. This is not exclusive to this camera, but the sensor is not as good as the larger APS-C or full frame options. - Auto ISO - Not the best implementation of this feature... no way to set minimum shutter speed. - Microphone is pretty bad for shooting video... a shame since the video quality is very good. - Battery life is just ok. Does not come with a wall charger in the box. - All plastic construction and all black version looks a bit boring. In summary, this is a great camera for shooting stills and video where you don't care about the audio quality. It seems to have slipped under the radar of most enthusiasts because it lacks the flagship features (no audio jack, nothing special about viewfinder, not the highest megapixel count etc). The biggest selling points are the image stabilization, fast & accurate auto-focus, new shutter design and overall "responsiveness" of the camera.

Great camera for the photography enthusiast
I've always enjoyed photography and have had some digital cameras over the years, but this time, I really wanted to learn more about taking photos. After doing a lot of research, I chose to get a mirrorless for for its portability as I did not want to carry a big camera an lug a camera bag around. This camera fits easily into my backpack and I have it with me more often than leaving it at home. I'm currently taking a digital photography class at Northwestern and my professor always talks about the quality of my photos. The camera does a great job at taking long exposure photos as well as a nice job catching action shots with shutter speed up to 1/4000. I love taking photos so much, I'm already looking at getting another mirrorless full frame camera in the future. The camera also takes great 4k videos. You can't go wrong with this purchase unless of course you're looking for high end features on a camera that costs $500.

Excellent small camera with minimal compromises
There's so much to say about any camera, but this one lives up to expectations in all but one or two things. It is physically small in size and so I am frequently hitting buttons I don't want to hit just by handling the camera. The touch screen is useful and has a lot of features, but it's too easy (for me) to accidentally touch something and bring up some menu item or feature. I turned it off, and I can change all settings via the menu--not as handy but also makes for better ease of use. The camera is small and unobtrusive, so it's worth putting up with this. I might have been happier with a slightly larger camera like the LX100. But that would have cost me a few more hundred dollars. Same with a small aps-c mirrorless--maybe bigger but much more expensive. I was surprised that the image quality is very close to what you would expect with an aps-c or larger sensor. It's not an issue, and the JPGs I get are super nice, with good color and sharpness. The image stabilization is excellent, and makes a real difference in how I shoot, enabling me to use slower shutter speeds, keeping the ISO low and image quality high.

awesome camera for beginner
awesome camera love it! it's good for beginners! There’s a lot of Modes you can pick. And he does everything automatically also you can adjust it manually by yourself. It’s pretty light and easy to Carry around. Nice and cool camera it’s worth every penny. You can shoot 4K videos also. Picture quality is amazing and it stabilizes automatically and there’s an auto focus on this. Love every details since it’s been a pretty compact and easy to use and easy to grab around The edges because it’s a leather design. I’m a really beginner Photographer i’m pretty amateur but this is way over class for me

Excellent photo and video camera
The stabilization is truly marvelous when using the included lenses. The 12-32mm is very compact and gets the job done. Have shot a large amount of video footage using using the 12mm lens and it performs quite well with the right lighting. The 45-150mm lens is simply terrific for photography. Have been able to get some great shots of wildlife or nature with this lens. The gx85 itself is a workhorse. Shoots burst 4k and 4k video no problem at 90-100MBps. Battery life isn't the best, can shoot about half an hour of 4k footage if lucky but it charges quick. The ability to change the angle of the screen has been surprisingly useful on some shoots. The camera body is heavy and feels quality. I plan to try a speedbooster on this frame next, perhaps get some vintage lenses. A great value, can really do it all.

Fantastic mirrorless with lots to offer!
This is my first mirrorless camera. I have a Nikon DSLR which I use still and love, but I take the gx85 everywhere. It's compact and solidly built. I haven't had any shutter issues, but remember her photos take multiple pics and combines them. This will make you think that you have shutter shock. Took me a sec to figure that out. Pic quality is awesome. Lots of functions... Lots. App works great for me. I can set it up on my tripod and use my camera wirelessly to capture pics of birds at my bird feeder. It also came with the extra lens. The stabilization is fantastic, especially while recording video. It also is compatible with my feiyu G6. It is a little heavy, but it makes it feel well built. No regrets! Plus I got it with 5 payment plan! Sweet!

Most Compact without sacrificing most of micro 4/3 strengths.
Arrived without damage or defect although the box was torn as it looked opened before. Might have been an open box but internal checks out ok as unused. All accessories are intact. Could have wrapped the box with bubble wrap better. Camera is decent especially on sale price but the limitations of the sensor is apparent especially against APS-C ones from Sony and Fuji. ISO simply cannot go pass 1600 and not 800 for indoor low light. Kit lenses are decent but extremely plasticky though very lightweight. It's strength is probably the menu and features, giving plenty of options. Stabilizer is below average but adequate. Build quality is surprising above expectations. It has some heft to it and easily balances out with heavier prime lenses - could be the heat sink and metal mount. Battery life is worrying, best to get at least 2 more. One original can last about an hour of video/shooting depending on intensity. Overall, this should not be bought anywhere near list price but its a good representation of what micro 4/3 was - long reach and needs really good lenses.
