The complete why, when, and how-to guide for parenting a one-year-old. When will my 13-month-old start to walk? Shouldn't my 14-month-old be talking already? How can I get my picky eater to pick something besides pasta? Sure, I can ignore a tantrum at home--but what am I supposed to do in the middle of the mall? Why does my toddler have such a hard time sharing? Taking turns? Playing nicely? When should we break the bottle habit . . . and what about the pacifier? How do I get my almost-two-year-old to settle down for bed--and stay asleep all night? Just in time for those first steps, here's the next step in What to Expect. Picking up the action at baby's first birthday, What to Expect the Second Year is the complete guide to the "wonder year"--twelve jam-packed months of amazing milestones, lightning-speed learning, and endless discoveries. Filled with must-have information on everything from feeding (tips to tempt picky palates) to sleep (how to get more of it), talking (decoding those first words) to behavior (defusing those first tantrums). Plus, how to keep your busy one-year-old safe and healthy. Review: Great Help to Frazzled Parents! - 5 stars because: It literally covers just about every situation you might come up against. It's not a million page book, but it DOES give you, if not a number of good suggestions, a way to think or go even if your exact situation isn't listed. It also is very helpful in helping a parent know that they are not alone. It HAS happened to MANY other parents/children, and there ARE solutions. Super glad I bought it (and 1 year 3 month old Sebastian is too!) Review: Best book of its kind - This is a great book and so helpful. The best selling of its kind for a good reason. Just want all moms and dads to know tho this did help but the truth is u just have to wait out the terrible twos.

Great range of advice and interesting info on development
I find these books give a range of advice for parents to then choose what works for then and their parenting styles. I also like how it helps to understand the developmental stages and clarifies those bits that hasn't bothered me but is just nice to know.

More of the what to expect
Another good book from the brand. It answers the daft questions that come up in the heat of the moment. Perhaps not quite as consulted as the previous two books (pregnancy and 1st year) but still useful. I found the structure a little less helpful (by area rather than age) than in the 1st year, but I guess this is because children grow at different rates and this becomes more apparent as they get older.

No sirve
Lo compré porque me gustó What to expect the first year pero no aporta nada nuevo y está peor organizado. Es la edición americana así que los grados son Fahrenheit no ayuda mucho.

Easy to read and informative
Nice to have a classic in our own language while living abroad. I sat down and read the whole book in one fatal swoop. Must admit no time to go back as a reference, but the intention is there - it's next to my bed just in case! Covers everything from tantrums to teeth brushing (she actually suggests flossing a baby! Only in America! ....If I could only brush adequately we'd be pleased as punch!); I think just about every topic that has crossed our minds is covered and the material is interesting, insightful and easy to read.

Favoloso e consigliatissimo.
