This clock really helps a person that has dementia. It reminds them to do certain tasks during the day. It uses your voice so they hear you talking. Easy to set up and reliable. Wish it came in other colors.

Wow, usually I receive a product and think of one or two ways it would better suit my needs, but this talking alarm clock has been so well thought out and designed for the elderly or anyone who needs lots of reminders during the day. It is very easy and logical to program and set up. I loved that I can record whatever specifics I want to help my mom to remember the time and dosage of a new medicine she needs 4 times a day and a different one 2 additional times (with room for 2 more reminders if needed)! She enjoys hearing my voice and there is time for me add a little explanation as well as a personal message of love. The screen as well as the buttons have large simple print. We especially like that there are easy slide buttons on the sides to fully adjust the volume and the brightness. The message continues to repeat until she presses the OK button. How simple is that? At 92, she is usually overwhelmed with any technology, but she absolutely loves this helpful device! We are so appreciative we wish we could thank the thoughtful designers personally! P.S. One year later I contacted OKRA customer service because I needed help with deleting an alarm and didn't have the manual with me. There are great explanations online, but the Customer Service Rep emailed me back right away with very clear and helpful directions AND then even followed up with me again the next day to be sure I figured it out satisfactorily! Amazingly caring and helpful. Great to know there is excellent customer service to back up this product if ever you need additional help!

There are no other products that I could find like this one - which is designed for CUSTOM VOICE ALARMS. There is No Wifi or Bluetooth or App needed. Literally, just plug it into the wall and start making YOUR OWN CUSTOM VOICE ALARMS! (there's also a cool song that plays for the alarms, if you decide Not to use your own voice for any of the Alarms you set.) Up to 8 Custom Alarms. Great display. Beautiful machine. I recommend this for ANYONE - not just people struggling with memory! This can help people stay on track, create habits, stick to a routine, etc. The benefit of having your own voice alarm is that You can give yourself instructions, rather than hearing a chime and Hoping that you'll care enough to read your little alarm name and perform the tasks, rather than just clicking snooze (like I do with my phone alarms...) Each CUSTOM VOICE ALARM allows a 15 second recording. It just continues to replay itself until you click any of the buttons on top. Trust me, this is a good product. You can dim it very low for the night time or make it very bright, if needed.

My husband has Alzheimers and it has taken his ability to read. I needed more than just a talking clock. Pros: The Orka clock allows me to record reminders in my own voice. It plays the msg for 30 minutes until it is acknowledged. Cons: Only 8 alarms & recordings have to be very brief. Does not auto reset for DST. This clock is not perfect, but it is the best thing I have seen so fsr for my husband.

Buying a second one (first got damaged) - GAME CHANGER for getting up to go to school on the mornings! Every morning I had to track what each of my elementary aged kids was doing and when, repeating myself over and over. This alarm replaces that, so keeps each kid on time with a different alarm to get up, brush your teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast, put on shoes and socks and finally, time to be out the door. It instantly helped keep my kids on track and on time so am buying again since my first one broke during a move! Much better than an app on my phone since this is its dedicated use and is otherwise unintersting

This ORKA Talking Clock. Voice Recordable Medication Pill Reminder is a wonderful device and well-thought out. I wish I had found this sooner for my mom, who I need to call or visit at least twice daily to ensure she remembers to eat. I still call and visit, but just to make sure the clock worked :). I'm happy that I have backup in case I'm late or her phone line is down, which happened recently. She also does not speak English, and the fact I can make recordings for her that she understands in my own voice is much more effective than a different clock I purchased that simply flashes a message across the face with music. This ORKA clock has a loud adjustable volume, and it will continue to repeat (for 30 minutes) my message as to what day it is and to eat breakfast or dinner until she presses a big button on the top of the clock which is a big black square. I covered the other buttons on top with white paper and tape so she can easily recognize, see and press the one big black button. While my message is playing, the clock face slowly flashes so that it's somewhat recognizable as a beacon (I wish it flashed a bit faster actually). Overall, this is a great clock, and gives me peace of mind as a safety backup. My mom can understand my message, how to turn off the message, and is able to function more independently. I'd highly recommend this useful device.

2024 Update: Three years, and Madi is still humming along. My 91 y.o. dad relies on the voice reminders. I think I've changed the coin batteries twice in all this time. Bravo. Update: Madi is still going strong! My dad unplugged it the other day and forgot to plug it back in. I thought I would have to go through set-up again and re-record their pill reminders. Nope! The battery backup saved everything. Yay! My 88 y.o. parents kept forgetting their pills. I searched a long time for a verbal reminders device and found THIS one. OMG! It's perfect! You can record 8 reminders in your own voice and set the alarm time and frequency (daily, weekdays, weekends,1 day of the week, and off). This is superb for complicated pill schedules... and messages of love and encouragement. The alarm repeats for 30 minutes until the OK button is pressed, so reminders aren't easily ignored. Fabulous! The large screen displays not just the time, but day of the week in large letters so my dad knows which day's pills to take. There's a coin battery backup in case of power failure, too. What really places this clock at the top of the list is the superb customer support. Wow. I was having a problem setting the frequency, so I sent an email and photos early on a Saturday morning. Their approach to my challenge was "all hands on deck" to help me. "B" even recorded a video just for me. My challenge was resolved speedy quick. (Umm... my bad. Operator error.) Helpful tip for setting Frequency: After you set the alarm hour and minutes and press Yes Go, you will see ALM OFF and --:--. I mistakenly thought this was an error message, which prompted my email for help. Nope! ALM OFF is one of the Frequencies. Simply press ^v to select Daily, Weekdays, etc. No. Problem. My parents reported this morning that Madi is really helpful! P.S. I have not been paid for this review. I'm a super THRILLED customer. Orka support is fantastic, should you need it.

Purchased for my mom. She loves and relies on those "button clocks" where you push a disk and it tells the time. But after 3-5 weeks they break and can't be returned or fixed. This ORKA clock is exactly what she needed. It is substantial, with big rubber pads on the bottom so it will stay in place, the numbers are big enough that mom can see them, the voice speaks clearly and slowly- great because older folks need a little more time to concentrate on what they are hearing. The volume and brightness controls are conveniently located and simple to use levers. Plus, it has a back-up batter and plugs into the wall. The clock is a little difficult to set up, but I'm happy to trade off that challenge to get a quality instrument that will work for years to come. I hope it will. I can see it's miles better than the junky button clocks that I've spent so much money on in the past. thank you & I look forward to seeing future products for low-vision folks.

I bought this clock for my son as he is a very heavy sleeper and has a lot of difficulties waking up in the morning with traditional alarms. Voice alarms may be a better solution for him. I have not given it to him yet but I did test it. The alarm is very easy to use and the control for the volume is excellent. It is also easy to record messages. The preset voice that tells the time when prompted is also very clear. I think that this will be a good solution for him. I am very happy with this purchase.

Disgraceful!!! First off the wrong adapter! My autistic son had to wait 24 hours for a new separate adapter that I had to purchase for this item and it doesn’t fit and keeps falling out the back. There is no way recording voice, it doesn’t work. I have contacted the seller. No response. I personally think it should be just thrown in the bin! I wanted it for the recording!!!! To prompt my disabled son. A completed waste of money. 😡

my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer 3 years ago.She is 90 and still lives by herself.However we had to move her from her house to an apartment within a retirement complex.The biggest problem she has, is TIME SO,with this product,i was able to record messages reminding her of different events throughout the week i.e.lunch time, dinner time, morning activities, afternoon activities,TV programs she likes to watch,ect,ect.... I set the alarm on voice.That way, she hears my voice at the proper time with a few instructions..she likes that I really think this product is extending her autonomy.

Et aussi l`affichage devrait être rouge pour être plus visible pour les gens ayant plus de la difficulté à voir.

Recorded message are crystal clear but it plays the alarm for 30 minutes if you don't hit the OK button. There's buttons and adjustments all around the clock but keep in mind that it is intended for people with disabilities. I would suggest that controls should be covered by a door or something like that to avoid unintentional tampering. A couple of mods would make this clock perfect
