The top shelf is 12.25, but because of the draw you can't go higher or the drawer will be blocked from opening. Overall, the quality is great; all wood, sturdy construction, and excepts a lot of weight. Hope that helps. **Q: Does the 20 inch depth include the top? What is the width and depth of the base unit only?** A: The base is 36in. High and, 18" by 35"wide. The top is, 20" by40" **Q: Can wheels be added to this cart?** A: Yes. The legs are square; 1 1/2" diameter. I attached floor glides to mine; I didn't want the extra height. The glides work well for me. **Q: is it a heavy sturdy piece? or does it wobble? what is the weight?** A: It should not wobble when put together properly, 51 pounds is the shipping weight. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011OJFSRA?m=AHRUJGOXNTCEB&ref_=v_sp_widget_detail_page ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great kitchen island - with cherry wood top *by on Reviewed in Canada 25 August 2022* Great look (cherry top). Easy to assemble. Been using for 2 months. Solid & stable, both shelves loaded. Good size, probably more convenient if placed against a wall. Drawer for small non-heavy stuff only. Only issue with delayed delivery . ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars — Solid construction, real value *by on Reviewed in the United States 20 May 2026* This is a well-built piece. American hardwood top is substantial and finished clean. The frame is stable, assembly is straightforward, and it holds up to actual use without wobble or creaking. At this price point, you're getting genuine quality. Drawers work smooth, the overhang is practical, and the footprint fits real kitchens. No cheap particle board or flimsy hardware. If you need a functional island that's built to last, this delivers.Highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for the price! *by on Reviewed in the United States 11 October 2022* Only downfall were the guide holes being too big for the supplied screws. I had two at home that I was able to switch out. ## Frequently Bought Together - Casual Home Kitchen Island with Solid American Hardwood Top, Walnut&black - Farberware Countertop Microwave 1000 Watts, 1.1 cu ft - Microwave Oven With LED Lighting and Child Lock - Perfect for Apartments and Dorms - Easy Clean Stainless Steel --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/288173061-casual-home-kitchen-island-with-solid-american-hardwood-top-walnut](https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/288173061-casual-home-kitchen-island-with-solid-american-hardwood-top-walnut) --- *Product available on Desertcart Panama* *Store origin: PA* *Last updated: 2026-10-30*
