I've had one in the kitchen for over ten years! They are the best way to make salsa, mix batters, and chop nuts etc. BUT, do not overload the bowl. If you find it difficult to crank the handle you've overloaded the device and you'll break the stabilizing tangs on the bottom of the bowl. I've done it twice! (slow learner). The KIRKWOOD KITCHEN Multi-function Manual Food Processor is also known as the Kitchen King Chopper. Parts for the Kirkwood are available and are interchangeable with the Kitchen King Chopper. The older version used to cut in both directions as the blade was double sided. I'd say the only improvement needed on the current brand/model would be the return of the double sided blades. (They may have changed the blade to single sided for safety reasons because it is SHARP) The current machine is really built well and chops veggies in 3-4 turns of the crank, yes just 3-4 cranks, depending on the veggie of course but it don't take many turns to get the job done.! You can make delicately fine chopped coleslaw in 15-20 cranks. Wash the chopper by hand in cool to lukewarm water. The clear plastic bowl does not like hot water. It will form spider cracks. I've never had one shatter but it looks weakened after a few washes in the dish washer or in hot water. Currently I have two, one I use regularly and an extra one in the pantry. In the ten years I've had this device I've broken two of them. Both times it was my fault (over loaded). This manually operated chopper really can't be beat for the cost and performance. I'm very sure you'll be pleased with your purchase if you get one.;;; UPDATE: I ordered another Kirkwood Multi-function Manual Food Processor for my son. I was disappointed to find that they discontinued the paddle accessory and instead replaced it with a long handled spoon. The spoon most everyone has, but the paddle "ACCESSORY" we don't. Still a great product but a major capability has been eliminated. Shame on Kirkwood!

Didn't want to invest in electric model. Sturdily made. Easy to assemble, clean. Easy to use. Chops and grinds, works well. Blends a salsa quickly.

I now actually enjoy chopping various vegetables to make dinner salads, because this Kirkwood food processor is the bomb. There are 3 very sharp Stainless Steel blades that get the cutting job done very quickly. It is easy to clean up, and stores easily too. It makes preparing my meals kind of fun, and I am not normally a person who looks forward to working in the kitchen. I do recommend the Kirkwood processor to anyone who needs a great device for food prep.

Wow! Tomatoes, white onions, cilantro. Crank the handle a few times and viola!! Perfect pico de gallo!
