What a delight! This beautifully done, pithy little book will change your life- if you let it. Age, no bar. With the help of a friend Faith, the butterfly, the perpetually frightened little caterpillar, Fear, finds it in himself to get out there and see what wonders the world has to offer and is the richer for it. Though initially shy, painfully so, he trusts himself and Faith and gets out of his comfort zone. I could almost hear his little heart beating so fast when he takes the first step! But then...... WOW! new friends, new things to try - a WHOLE new world - and it had been right there all along! I can guarantee that the adults who read it to the children will not be immune to it's message. Afterall, who has not allowed fear to overwhelm them sometime, in some form, only to regret it later. The book has lines like ''you need to be kind, even when you are afraid". How beautiful is that? Tomes on philosophy will slip out of your mind but Fear and Faith will stick in there and you will find yourself calling on them frequently. I just did this week :) Thank you Mr Rosenblum for this heartwarming story. I can't wait for the next book to come out- nor can the kids!

It would be a meaningful gift if Michael Rosenblum’s enchanting The Caterpillar and The Butterfly were characterized as compulsory reading for all children. It is illustrative in a simple and elegant way of life lessons that all children are confronted with and endure both before and after transmogrifying from the base of simple childhood to adulthood. It would be a joy to behold for any adult to have the opportunity and good fortune to read this beautiful and symbolic story to any child or grandchild as the book’s narrative and illustrations are presented in such an enchanting and magical way. The Caterpillar and the Butterfly is an absolute must read for children of all ages. In this world today, to find a book with such a simple, powerful message of believing in yourself, is inspiring and hopeful. To turn fear into faith is a message that resonants for our time. Author Michael Rosenblum understands the power of words and leaves us feeling encouraged and inspired. I loved this book so much that I purchased 10 copies to give to my friend's grandchildren. Polina Poluektova's illustrations are magical, powerful and whimsical. I hope this is not the end of this brilliant collaboration. My child thoroughly enjoyed the book

This sweet story about a little caterpillar facing his fears, befriended by Faith the butterfly, is a timely tale. As he tries new things with his friend Fear, the caterpillar, becomes a little braver. Perhaps my favorite part of the book is when Fear tells Faith, “you make it seem so easy.” To which Faith responds with a mantra of sort and how to grow and not be afraid. It’s all about doing new things, being kind, and believing even WHILE afraid. To those who have said this book is a little too deep for children… I would push back and say that children need that more than ever. I would say that this time in the world has created a season of fear in not only adults but also children. And this book is a soft way to show children how they can face their anxieties.

We are a family of book lovers and while I try to utilize the library as much as possible, I am so glad I purchased this book for our family. This book was an instant favorite among my three elementary age children. The story is beautifully written, provides an important life lesson about overcoming fears, and is simple enough for young readers to sit and engaged with the story over and over again. The illustrations are fantastic. The characters are brightly colored and loveable. The illustrations help to facilitate more open ended discussion about fear with young readers. To simply conclude, we love this book and I am so thankful it is part of our ever growing book collection.

The message in this book is powerful. It's a story about the importance of believing in yourself. Being a teacher for over 20 years, a parent and grandparent, I can recommend this beautifully written and illustrated book to all my friends and family. In fact, I have bought several books as gifts. It's a great way to have a productive conversation with children about things they might experience in school, the playground or in their own family. Enjoy!
