It does work, but hardly ever cuts the lid off on the first try. Seldom will lift the lid off the can. Still better than battling a hand crank opener. Not to bad for the price, I really didn't expect much. UPDATE!! Having used this for 5 months now, I can say that it opens most of my cans on the first go. Now and then I do let it go around the second time. Mine doesn't pick up the lids except on small cans, the magnet isn't very strong, but it's not hard to pop the lid off of the cans. I put four AA batteries in mine the day I got it and have used it almost daily. Batteries are still going strong. It stores nicely in my kitchen drawer. I think it's well worth the price! I've given it two more stars :-)

To be very honest, I have bought over 10 can openers so far and none of them have lasted more than few months. This particular one seemed a little expensive when I first saw it online but thought of giving a try anyway and I am so glad that I did. All you need is 4 A4 batteries and you can let this little thing do the magic. I get a lot of canned food (tuna, spinach and white chicken) as it is healthy and easy to prepare and this machine opens the can as if it's not a big deal. You just put it on top of the can and it will rotate itself and stop when it's done. And when you pull it up, it takes the top of the can with it leaving you with the stuff inside the can. With this we don't have to worry about the cuts anymore that we could get while using the traditional can openers. I've cut myself numerous times while opening a can and thank god I won't be dealing with those issues anymore.

Easy to place on can and use. Pushing the top of the button starts it and you just have to know to push the bottom of the button to stop it. Doesn't usually pull the lid off on removal of the device, but takes no effort to remove the lid. The only downside I feel is that the batteries needed replacement after 3 months of basically using it once a day. After 2 1/2 months the device seemed to be straining to work but still functioned. When it finally died, it was locked onto the can and wouldn't disengage BUT the battery lid came off easily and new batteries could be inserted with no problem; it started back up at once.

I ordered this can opener because I have arthritis in my hands and have a hard time using a manual can opener. I have a counter top soft edge electric can opener which is great but not tall enough to open big cans. When I first received this, I opened a big can and was so thrilled with it I decided to buy a bunch to give as gifts to family and friends. I used it two more times, each time opening only one 15 oz can and it worked fine. Then yesterday I used it on a big can again and it went around twice but didn't open. It took three more tries, letting it go around several times each time before it finally opened. Then I had to open two 15 oz cans and it took two tries going around twice before it finally worked on one can, it never opened the second can. My counter top can opener couldn't open it because there was no longer an edge to grab onto so I had to use a manual can opener. I had read the reviews when I ordered it but the good reviews outnumbered the bad reviews and I really needed an opener for big cans so decided to give it a try. For the price, I would expect it to open more than five cans. I haven't tried it again but I hope it isn't completely broken. I'm so disappointed! I really loved it at first! I'm so glad I held off on ordering these can openers as gifts. I found another similar opener (different brand) on Amazon with better reviews. I hope it works better because I took a chance and ordered nine of them.

I Purchased this item after a friend told me she had one and my old electric under the counter can opener finally died. I absolutely loved this item... it works so well so easily I even sent one to my sister as a gift. How disappointed I was when one day it failed on me, actually pieces fell off...and it wasn’t very old. I think using it on a very large can overtaxed it, so maybe that’s why it failed and broke . I’d like to get another one but, a little hesitant ...Scared it will break again?

We have been using counter top opener the unwraps the can top for 25 years. The counter top opener does wear out after a while and for some reason it does not open Safeway brand butter bean cans most of the time. So we bought the BangRui opener to supplement the counter top opener and it does the job. The BangRui is the only way to go if you have gallon size (or however it is designated) cans. But do not count on the magnet lifting the lid, it will only do it some time. This type of opener does not contaminate the product in a can the way the "other" can openers do. So for large cans this is a must! March 13, 2018. After one year the opener quit working. Make sure you purchase canned goods without dented top edge to prolong the life of yor BangRui.

Loved the look and the concept. Nice price, quick delivery. Bought for 74 y.o Woman because extreme pain in her hands and arms. She couldn't put in batteries and called help. Young dexterous helper could not get it open. Googled unit. None of the helps online were for this unit even though the number and looks were identical. two days to find a way to open the unit and put in batteries. Functioned similar to advertisement. But of the 5 cans of greens, beans, and soup, only 3 would open. The others slowly spun but no cutting. Got help. Still couldn't get to work. Three of us to remove the batteries. Just a mess. Returning it. Not useful nor functional.

UPDATE: Ok, when I'm wrong I admit I'm wrong. This little can opener is just fine. It's now Dec 2020 (thank goodness it's almost over!) and opener is still going strong. Not sure why I had SO much trouble at first, but it works great now. I will say use some GOOD batteries and make sure opener goes around the complete area because it does take its sweet time to open. Also, push the button to start but also push to release opener. This is a good purchase and I WOULD BUY AGAIN. ORIGINAL: It runs slowly even with new batteries. It refused to come off when done opening lid. It's a pain in the butt and I hate it. It's still better than a hand crank opener but save yourself some frustration and pay a cpl dollars more to get a better quality product. Only positive is color looks pretty.

super sized in this opener, not loving how big it is, my only complaint is that it doesnt stop once its done a full circle around the can, it keeps going, i have to push the button to make it stop, as much as i love this opener, i think i did prefer the older model

When I received this item, which is quite expensive, I thought I would not have to use traditional can openers any longer and almost threw them out. Luckily, I kept them, because after using 5 or 6 times (I rarely need to open a can), it just stopped working, I mean the motor runs and it goes around the can, but it does not grab or cut the cover, so it just goes around and around and nothing happens, not even a little dent on the can. It hurts me to have to throw it in the garbage, considering the huge price I paid, and there is no product support offered. I sure would like a replacement but I am passed the return deadline, and considering I have used it just a few times, makes it costly to pay 45$ to use it 5-6 times, it is like 9$ a shot to open a can. Now I had to buy another one, the Starfrit standard one which works great and I know it will not break down, you just need strong hands to use it. - signed: a very sad, unhappy and unsatisfied customer.
