This is working out quite well! So far I'm happy with it. So much better than what i had.
The price was right. And although there are a few bad reviews, there are a lot of good ones. I also saw this frame recommended on another site that was reviewing futon frames, "The Sleep Judge." It was #5, but number 1 was too expensive, number 2 was another DHP frame that wouldn't work for me, number 3 and number 4 were twin size chairs and expensive, and then there was this one. So when i saw it went on sale, i got it. I'm glad I did. It's working out well. It took a while to put together, but i would not say it was difficult. There were a lot of screws. Just stay organized about it. (I used my own hex tool which made it a bit easier) There was one part where the picture didn't match very well to the product, and I ended up having to redo something, but it didn't take long. Just pay really close attention to the drawings. Because this futon frame is lightweight, I would not suggest it for anyone who might be giving it a lot of punishment. I would also suggest, contrary to what the top reviewer says, do not use a power screwdriver unless you are very careful. I had no problem using a regular screwdriver to install all the screws. They do say that when the futon is pulled out in bed mode not to sit or lie on the very edge. I would say that would be more of a problem for a heavier person, but it's an issue of balance. Since they don't know the weight of the person purchasing it, they make the warning. (again, this is a lightweight frame.) If you have a thick futon mattress with coils/foam that doesn't fold easily, then there is a learning curve to getting this to go back into the couch position. At first i thought I would never be able to do it. (I still would have been better off than the old frame I had). But after some experimenting and practice, I can get it folded every day in a matter of seconds and I'm a 5 foot 4 inch woman. You need to stand on the side of the futon where the arm rest is. Grab the top of the "backrest" part of the mattress and push it forward like your pushing the mattress into a folded position, then grab the seat part of the frame and pull up toward the "backrest" part of the mattress. If this doesn't pop the frame into couch position, then let go of the mattress and grab the "backrest" part of the frame and pull it toward the "seat" part of the frame so the seat and backrest of the frame are forming a "V", then rock the whole thing forward (toward the seat side) and it should fall into position. It works for me every day.

Easy to Assemble and Sturdy
I love this frame because it was so easy to assemble, and it's perfect for my needs. I use it as a couch in my living room. I bought the queen size, and my queen futon mattress fits it perfectly. I also wanted the silver frame to match my living room space once I paint the walls and add rugs, etc. Because I have four cats, I like having a metal futon frame so they won't claw it like they would if I were to buy a standard couch. I'll be dressing up the mattress later, when I'm ready, but for now it serves as a great seating area that I, and my cats, enjoy. I have to say, the assembly instructions were great. I usually can't bring myself to put something like this together on my own because I get very frustrated and confused with written instructions. But I was able to do it by myself because each step was easy to follow. The frame also pulls out flat very easily to be used as a bed. The frame feels very durable, and the price was hard to beat. Previously, I had a wooden frame, and eventually, the slats began to break. That's why I opted for metal this time. I'm glad I did because assembling a wooden frame is also a huge pain. I think this one will last a long time. I don't know how it would stand up to a busy household, but I live alone and don't plan on bouncing on it too often 😁.

Great product
I LOVE this futon base! We recently had guests who stayed for 6 weeks. Our old futon base broke the last week they were here. I ended up finding this online for free shipping and it fit our old mattress. I was a little worried that it would look cheap compared to our old base which was very solid. This base is a bit smaller and super light weight but it moves with such ease from sitting to laying and vice versa and doesn’t look cheap at all after we put our mattress on. Our old base was a two person job to move it or even get it from sit to lay. We live in an apartment so durability, functionality, and space are all factors. And this got 5 stars on all 3. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because this was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever set up. I don’t have a lot of upper body strength and we needed a special small screw driver that was not provided in the kit. Thankfully my husband was able to find a screw driver that fit but a regular Phillips won’t cut it. We tried 6 different screw drivers til my husband pulled out his multiset utility knife/screwdriver we bought onsale from Cabelas years and years ago. Amazon gave us the option to pay $80 for a professional to assemble it, but we didn’t have the extra cash to spare. It took me 3 days to put it together because it required so much muscle I had to take frequent breaks and work around my husbands work schedule. There were some screws that (hard as I tried) I just couldn’t get to go in. It probably would have only taken about 4 hours if we worked straight through, but for me that was impossible. And this wasn’t my first rodeo with assembling furniture. I usually put together all of our items. If it were up to my husband he’d pay extra every time for someone else to do it, but I’m not into spending extra money than we need to so I do it myself. The instructions had a lot of steps but were fairly easy to follow along. I would not recommend this product if you struggle with upper body strength and are planning on assembling it yourself. But it was definitely worth the headache and sore muscles in the end!

Read the instructions all the way through before you start and have two people assemble it
It does take a while to assemble this frame. However, if you take your time and read the instructions through (and don't think you can do it without reading them) it can be done. My husband and I assembled it together. We are in our 70s. He said that one needs a fairly good screwdriver so as not to strip the screws, and as others here have said, they will strip with too much torque. I did an inventory of each piece and part before we started. The phamplet/manual that comes with it is exact as to what goes where and shows the names of each part, each screw, each nut and each bolt precisely. Yes, the instructions could use an overhaul because they are not very well dictated so if you are not mechanically inclined you might want to call in a friend who is. Again, it takes two people and lots of room. It works great, and our mattress from the old futon that we had, fits fine. However, the mattress we have is quite heavy so when we had it opened into the bed position, it was perfect but when we wanted to pull it back up into the sofa position, it required some doing. Hubby had to put his foot on the front of the frame to hold it down to the floor as it pulled up and I pulled on the back as he adjusted the front, in the process of getting it in place. But all in all, we are very pleased with it.

overestimated my building abilities a bit..
Alright so, we went into this pretty optimistic. the box itself was packaged I’d say very well. organized, labeled, wrapped with plastic and spaced out with cardboard piece’s. decently heavy box, should have two people to carry it upstairs unless you wanna throw your back out. Now to the building process; the directions were a little hard to read but that’s how almost all these build it yourself amazon products are. The hardware pieces were organized perfectly in a way i haven’t seen before. They aren’t just thrown mixed together in a box, but individually spaced in plastic on a single cardboard piece for easy finding of each screw. MAKE SURE TO TAKE YOUR TIME ON EACH STEP. trust me, you don’t wanna tighten 4 screws in a cramped spot and have to restart. One complaint is some of the metal poles you need to screw pieces together into are too small. Directions say not to use a power drill, but using on a very low torque should be fine, and will save a lot of headache trying to hand screw metal on metal (if that makes sense). after 3 hours, we finally got it completed! Luckily we received an used mattress from some family and it fit perfectly on the frame. i find it easy to fold from couch, to bed, as they include handles that can be screwed on. it feels sturdy to sit on and has some decent space for at least three people and it still doesn’t feel cramped. I personally like how the back piece is a bit higher, so it doesn’t feel all small and like a child’s seat to sit on despite being lower to the floor than a couch or sofa would be. Overall, i don’t find it cheaply made like some people have said, you get what you pay for. Don’t buy a $70 frame and expect it to hold over 3000 pounds, it’s perfect for a hang room or bedroom for a group of teens or young adults like myself. edit: dropped some stars because the metal on the seating part broke and now you can fall through if you sit in a certain spot. not to mention to can feel the metal bars that are super uncomfortable to sit on. honestly not worth it. Edit 2: all the bars are completely breaking and popping off now, very disappointing

Gets the job done, wouldn't recommend for converting between bed and couch often
I purchased this with the 8" DHP mattress (5424496), which was recommended and is also sold in a package with this frame at Walmart. I decided a futon was the best option for furnishing my tiny bedroom on a budget. I've had it for about a month now. I keep it in the flat bed position and sleep on it every night and have been mostly satisfied with it. Pros: gets the job done. Affordable. Cons: Assembly was straightforward enough, but I had to force many of the screws because a lot of the holes were not quite big enough. It looks okay, kind of cheap, but you don't really see it anyway. I've ended up keeping this laid flat as a bed, but today I tried to fold it up into the couch position and could not do it. I know it's not an issue with how I put it together because I tested the folding function before I put the mattress on. I think the mattress is heavy and the folding mechanism isn't built for that kind of weight. So, it's cheaply made, no surprise there. That's what I get for buying the cheapest option and it's fine because I pretty much just use it as a bed. But, a word to the wise: If you're going to be folding between positions much at all, invest in a stronger frame.

Nice, compact futon sofa frame
I had a large, heavy wood frame for my futon and my kids broke it years ago. I like the lightness of this frame. It is so much easier to move when I am vacuuming. I have a thick, coil futon mattress and it's very comfortable to sleep on it using this frame. It is a little difficult to put it back into the sofa position, but another user put instructions that have worked for me. I am 5'3" and not strong at all. These were the instructions provided by user Samantha Star (thank you, Samantha!) Stand on the side of the futon where the arm rest is.

Amazing. Some assembly tips- the screws fit, and how to get them in!
I searched everywhere for a frame and took a gamble on this cheaper one with my expectations low. I'm very impressed and I love this frame, I was able to assemble it by myself as a single not strong person. Some tips for people struggling with assembly from what I learned: You WILL NEED: -An electric drill. Magnetic bits help. -A clamp, if assembling alone. -Pliers, to hold the nuts still while tightening screws The wood screws DO fit in the frame panels but you need to have the frame laid flat on the floor and put all your weight on your drill to drive them in. Don't try it any other way, it's impossible. You will need a clamp to align and hold some pieces together while screwing if you're doing it without help. Another tip, ignore the instructions telling you to add the mattress holder brackets last and do that before you attach the panels to the frame as you'll also need a lot of force to drive in those screws. Definitely the best thing I've ever bought for my apartment, it's high quality, looks nice and is a perfect couch alternative if you have cats while also being able to turn into a guest bed.

Fantastic frame, easy to assemble.
So happy with this purchase! This frame was easy to put together (while a bit time consuming)- instructions were very clear and extra parts were included. It is a very stylish frame that fits any room and the price is well worth it. If you’ve ever had to assemble IKEA furniture- this 14 step assembly is a Breeze. Highly recommend!

Overall Great Buy
I’d like to start off by saying I originally ordered this EXACT product from a different website. While that was being processed I happened to find the same product on here, Amazon; only difference was Amazon sold it for $80 dollars cheaper! So I switched and bought from here instead, and I have to say it was a great buy. All parts were included, accompanied by a detailed assembly manual and its own little tool kit which I thought was quite cute :) I ordered this product NEW, as they also sell partially used ones and everything was in great condition except one of the arm rest sides had some scratching in the paint. This wasn’t a huge deal as you can just repaint that little spot. I would recommend this buy; best deal on any website I found. I put it together by myself within an hour or two, and as you can see by the finished product photo that EVERYONE, even the dog, loves it :) (Mattress in photo on Futon was SOLD SEPARATE, does NOT come with frame!)

Buena compra
Cumplió con las expectativas, pero el colchón, solo hay una marca que da las medidas justas, las demás marcas se exceden por mucho. Colchón caro, de buena calidad si, espero dure tiempo.
