Mrs. Anderson's Baking Professional Round Cooling Rack, Heavy Duty Steel, 6 x 6 x 0.5-Inches

I wanted to try and bake bread in the slow cooker. This fit in mine just perfectly, and the bread really came out good. (google a slow cooker bread recipe!). This is very thick and sturdy, with tiny raised metal places so it sits up a bit and doesn't touch the bottom of the crock pot, (or cast iron casserole dish). Whatever you're making will not touch the bottom and burn, and all the grease will drain off your meatloaf. I set some things right on the rack, others, I put in a baking dish on the rack in my slow cooker. I have also used this on the bottom of a pot to steam a small amount of veggies, even steamed dumplings with it. Nice quality! OK, you can also use it to cool a small cake. I have purchased other sizes of this rack and they are all just as sturdy and well made. Don't buy cheap junk. These will last a long time and be very useful.

As a cake rack it's sturdy, functional and well priced. So, I rated it that way. As a trivet or meat rack for a crockpot, not so much. The legs on the "original equipment" rack from Rival were 1 1/2 inches long. These are about 3/8 inch. It simply cannot keep meat above the drippings or above the water I put in the bottom of the pot when I make meat loaf or meat balls. The quest continues...

I should have measured the pan I intended to use this in before buying. I didn't realize that 6 inches is so small. I used this until I received the larger one that I bought after trying this one. This is a good rack; heavy duty. If you want a small rack, then this is the one you want. I do recommend it.

Perfect size for use in my slow cooker!

This is a cooling rack in the name only, as it at the short end of a series of differently sized racks. The best use would be as a utility trivet to put a hot pan or pot on it. The other use would be as an insert for cooking something in a pressure cooker or in a stock pot. Others notice it rusts quickly. It is made from ordinary steel and chrome plated. I suspect the salt and harsh detergents in a dishwasher might fasten the rusting. The item (mine anyway, someone reported in a review smaller diameter) is exactly 6 inches in diameter and the feet will lift the item placed on top close to 1/2 inch, which is in contrast what the dimension given by Amazon states -- 0.38 in. The weight is 2.8 oz, again a bit different from the weight on the Amazon page -- 3.04 oz. The cross wires are not overly thick and sturdy, which allows to bend carefully by hand the wire on which the feet are formed, to eliminate any wobble. My preference would be towards thicker (sturdier) wires that call for pliers to adjust. The bottom line - I got this as an add-on-item at half for what it is offered now. At that price it was worth having.

Used it in a small round dish to cook a ham for Thanksgiving. Put water in the bottom and covered. worked wonderful.

Be mindful of the size of this item--it is very tiny. Enough to put a pot on but I think a larger one would be safer. This is sturdy and it is perfect for my use which is as a bottom of a large house plant. It allows the plant to be raised for water drainage--very useful and an inexpensive fix for my problem.

I wish I had of read the sizing better as this rack is good for cooling one cookie, maybe better used as a coaster.

It rusts. Threw it away

I've purchased Mrs Anderson's racks before and have been quite happy with my purchases and this 6" rack is no different. It fits perfectly inside my 3 qt Instant Pot. If you're looking for a 6" round rack, Instant Pot or not, I highly recommend this item. Thank You Mrs Anderson!
