I'm planning to open air camp in 2 weeks (no tent).** A: Yes, I definitely think it would be comfortable. The netting is nice and soft, and the elastic at the bottom edge is soft, and very adjustable. I wear my head net all night, every night at work. I work outdoors overnight shift, watering a large garden dept. with lots of mosquitoes, gnats, moths, and flying bugs. This net makes me super comfortable and happy! For your purposes, open air camping, you might also consider a bug jacket, with the head net built in. There are even mitts to go with it. **Q: Will this protect against tiny ticks?** A: Dear Pen Name, Thank you for your question. The extra fine mesh (225 holes/inch2) ought to keep out both male and female ticks but we cannot give you a guarantee that it would also keep out the minute nymphs and larvae. You can machine wash the net at max 140ºF (60ºC). We recommend the use of a washing bag. Please centrifuge on a low setting. Don’t put it in the dryer. Is the seal just excess material and gravity?** A: There isn't a "seal". The netting stays down and does its job perfectly! It should cover an exposed neck area just fine. I also sprayed the hat and net with Premetherin just as I spray my pants, sunscreen shirts, socks, sun hat and I never get bitten. (W/o Premetherin any biting thing within 100 miles will find me!) For me this hat just adds another layer of confidence. I was surprised how I didn't notice I was wearing it.
