Are these small enough to be a choking hazard?

Just bought these, and I would say it is possible. My 2.5 year old surprisingly put the oval ones in his mouth. He doesn't usually do that anymore, but he was trying to be funny and get a reaction from me. Well, the whole thing fit in his mouth with lips almost closed. While it's probably too large to swallow, I promptly put them away for another time. Maybe I'll just take out the ovals and the circles because the other ones don't fit into his mouth and would be less of a hazard. Of course, this might just be an issue for my silly child because he also put the string in his mouth and smiled at me. But definitely supervise.

What type of plastics does Skoolzy use in their manipulatives like these lacing beads? Are they #3 or #7?

The type of plastic used for our Skoolzy products falls into the #7 category. The type of plastic is called ABS.  This type of plastic is relatively harmless in that is doesn't have any known carcinogens, and there are no known adverse health effects related to exposure to ABS.  It is one of the more popular types of plastic used in toys for children including our lacing and threading manipulatives.

Could I use a pipe cleaner for these beads? (Like the one provided with the wooden lacing beads?)

Yes of course!  Using a pipe cleaner is a great option for those little hands that are not used to using their fine motor skills for lacing.  This method allows for ease and simplicity when first introduced to any lacing and threading activity.
