Just draw a straight line (to the length you need) using a ruler or any straight edge. Next determine where you want your angle to begin. Your protractor has a small hole at the center of the flat side - set this hole at the place you want the angle to begin and align the outer ends of the protractor (zero and 180 degree) with your reference line. Make a mark (pen or pencil) at the center hole. If you go straight up from there you will see the 90 degree indication, make a second mark at that position.
