I have used my ICECO VL45 ProS for over a year on several trips and outdoor outings. I can't imagine taking a trip or camping with out it! The unit performs exactly as advertised and has kept our food and drinks at the perfect temperatures for long periods with no issues. It's extremely easy to carry and load, it retains its set temperature, and is very quiet when operating in the back seat of my pickup truck. I'm very impressed with the build quality and features.I recommended this same refrigerator to my sister and she and her husband are extremely happy with theirs. They regularly use it for travel and even when grocery shopping locally!I recently had an issue with it powering up and ICECO's Customer Services was excellent! They were prompt and responsive and guided me through diagnostics until the issue was satisfactorily resolved. Great people!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the ICECO portable refrigerator for its quality, performance, and based on the fact that ICECO really does stand behind their product. If you're looking for a portable refrigerator for travel or camping, there's no better choice than ICECO!

I tried using a Costway 55qt for about 3 years and although it was ok, I always had my eye on one of the Iceco “PRO” line products.That Iceco lid is GENIUS! Opens from either side.The Costway is a VERY inexpensive (compared to ARB) knock-off and might be ok as your first fridge.Even with the optional insulated cooler bag for the Costway, the dairy section got too warm (45+F) and the main section would sometimes freeze items. The indicated temp on the LCD display never came close to the temp inside the cooler. With trial-and-error and a BT thermometer and a second portable thermometer inside the fridge, I was able to get a mostly consistent 36 degrees.Enter the Iceco VL45ProS…with some surplus funds and circumstances (Prime Day sale) I finally pulled the trigger.The fridge arrived quicker than I expected and in perfect shape. The shipping box wasn’t damaged and the corners were fine.The fridge feels solid and heavier than it looks. I thought I wanted a dual zone but did not want the extra weight (and cost) and I already have a fridge slide that fits the VL45ProS (see quick note below).Quick note: in 2019, I bought on Amazon the Tuff Stuff 55QT fridge slide out. It fit the Costway with room to spare and has been perfectly functional. However, it is NOT wide enough to fit the VL45ProS, unless…you remove ALL 4 lower feet/corners. Initially kicking myself for not measuring this more closely, I decided for my application (mounted in a SUV on a dedicated fridge slide out) I did not see any issue removing the 4 protective feet/corners and mounting screws. If you want a slide out for this model, make sure you get one with inside dimensions that are at least 16 inches wide (16.25 to be safe). The 29.25 length of my slide out is not an issue.Removing the fridge from the box I heard the food basket rattle quite a bit and could tell this would make a lot of unnecessary noise. So, using ¼ inch rubber fuel hose, I cut 16, one-inch pieces. Then carefully cut a slit lengthwise so that the hose can be put on the thicker wire of the basket where it was contacting the wall. I am still able to lift and remove the basket and when the hose contacts the side, it just spins like a roller but stays in place on the wire. No more rattle!Since I already had a BT thermometer (SensorPush HT1) and Digital Indoor Thermometer (Accurite 00613) (bought both from Amazon), I didn’t need built-in functionality (Dometic or others). A built-in icemaker was also not on my must have list.I am hopeful that Iceco has made improvements over the past few years and that this will be a really great fridge.PROS (for me):Secop compressor with 5-year warrantyWill operate at up to 40-degree incline/tiltAC plug is regular IEC (computer power cord) = no need for a special adapter/power module/brickFinal Note:12-volt sockets are not the most secure method to supply DC power to a fridge. No matter the fridge manufacturer they can get loose or come undone. If not having your food spoiled is important, then please consider where and how the power cable is routed and what is near it that may result in disconnection. Nothing will ruin a trip faster than a cooler that is off and no longer cooling (usually discovered after it is too late). Most vehicles turn OFF power to the 12-volt socket when the vehicle is OFF. Check your vehicle = never assume. 😊Update on Issue: Lid RattlesI reached out to ICECO via email and they were prompt and easy to deal with.They sent a new lid as an attempt to resolve.I did confirm that it is not a redesign, but the same lid I already have.Excessive play in the latches and pivot pins are allowing for too much movement.Looking for the easiest fix, I applied 1/2 round adhesive "rubber feet" to all 4 corners of the fridge.The feet sit up about 1/8 of an inch high and fixed the issue seen in my attached video.

I've had mine (VL45S) for nearly a year now. It still runs perfectly. It may not be as "pretty" as one of those Euro-slick Dometics, but who cares, especially since you will buy the thermal jacket for it (as I highly recommend). And it's a lot less expensive. I've taken it on two long road trips, to Mexico earlier this year and to Utah/Nevada last month, and both times it worked flawlessly. A great accessory to bring along! Nothing like an ice-cold Coke Zero (or whatever it is you drink) out in the middle of the desert!I have two batteries in my truck - my second, the backup battery, is a cheap old AutoZone Duralast battery that was on its last legs months ago and can barely hold enough of a charge to even start my truck. I would disconnect my main (good) battery at night and run the fridge off the bad battery. Even so, it would usually run ALL NIGHT and there'd still be enough juice to (barely) start the truck. Only once or twice did the voltage protection kick in and the fridge shut down, and that was when I was parked overnight in southern Utah (where it's ptetty hot), and once when I was in Guadalajara Mexico, when I accidentally forgot to unplug it while I stayed at a hotel for three nights.I am extremely happy with my purchase, and I think you will be too. Get the thermal jacket that is available for it, a good investment in my opinion.

Really good Quality. Took about 15-20 minutes to cool from outside ambient temperature of 75 degrees to a fidget temperature of 37 degrees. Ordered the cover so will see how good it helps as an insulator. The unit is pretty quiet when running.

I purchased a VL45ProS as a replacement for another model that didn’t work out for me. As with other models, I put this unit through a good amount of testing using Bluetooth thermometers and mechanical ones. I ran it for several days on AC and separately tested it while attached to a power station so I could monitor real-time power consumption.I will say I was pleasantly surprised at how well this unit holds temperature in both Max and Eco modes. During testing, with 72 deg ambient temperature, and a set point of 38 deg, this fridge maintained a very acceptable 1.5 deg variation between cycles, pulling roughly 50W during the initial cool down, and only 32W each successive cycle as it maintained the temperature. The unit generally ran for only a few minutes each cycle, and then coasted without the compressor running for 15-20 minutes. Noise level while the compressor was running was roughly 55dB at compressor start, which very quickly drops to 38-40dB as the compressor settles down.I was easily able to power the fridge directly from a solar panel and still had plenty of power to recharge the power station with only moderate winter sun and heavy shading supplying 50-80w of power. I tested the unit with it empty and with it 50% full of water and other items, and its performance was almost the same either way.A note on the temperature accuracy of the front panel vs. actual measured, as this seems to be a major point with most portable fridges. The unit I received was off by about 3-4 deg (which is very good for this type of fridge and way better than most), however the VL line has a cool option for calibrating the internal sensor to align the setpoint display. So, after adjusting the F1/F2/F3 parameters, the fridge is now dead accurate with the measured reading of the external thermometers and the front display set point now matches what’s actually happening inside. While this may not seem like a big deal, if you depend on your fridge to keep your food at a safe temperature (below 40deg), this is a pretty nice feature.If you’re thinking about a portable fridge in this size range for extended use in overlanding or camping, you will be hard pressed to find another fridge like this one; with its large capacity, low power consumption, high insulation efficiency, and multiple power connection options on both sides. Not to mention, the trick lid that opens from both sides and comes off without having to change anything, making it super convenient to get into from wherever it sits in the vehicle.

A well made product with some features I liked (lid opening options, inside light, useful LED display and good size for my Jeep). Only used it once, worked really well.

This is an amazing cooler. Use it at home as a beer fridge in the garage or in the box of my truck when I'm travelling/ camping. Jackery will run it for days, when I'm driving it runs off the 12v outlet I put in the box of the truck.

I put the iceco through a trial test in my house. I connected it to my jackery 1500 and it kept our milk, coffee cream and drinks cold for 4 full days and still had 30 percent left on the jackery. We probably opened it at least a dozen times a day. We’re very pleased so far.

Very efficient, rugged, great design. Pulled 35watts to run in 40 degree weather and had no issue running off my portable power Bank and solar panel kit.
