Why can i order apivar directly from mann lake website but when i try to order from mann lake's amazon store it says it can't be shipped to california

Because this isn't from Mann Lake. They are using the name

I tried "hopguard ii" earlier and the odor was strong which seemed to really agitate the bees? does apivar have an odor?

hopguard ii is messy in this regard. apivar has no odor, not something we humans can smell at least. i'm using apivar for late summer treatment and never saw bees becoming agitated.

if I use only two strips for a single brood box with 8 frames, can I keep the other strips for next year?

We're new at this but everything I've read about these mites is you can't treat them with the same thing back to back. For instance, we're treating them with the strips this spring, and in the fall we'll use the Apiguard. Then in the spring, can go back to the strips again if still sealed and unexpired which they shouldn't be yet.
