TRENDnet Network Surveillance Camera Old Version TV-IP612WN

I forgot to write the review when I got this camera three years ago. More's the better. I stuck this guy outside (it's not an outside camera) next to my porch light. It is out of the rain & snow, but not the brutal heat and cold and bugs. Sure, I was initially impressed by the zoom, and all the other whiz-bangs. But today, when I signed on to buy a second one for the back porch, I realized that every other PTZ camera I've ever bought has given up the ghost at some point and had to be replaced. About a dozen cameras from three or four brands over the last seven years. But this guy seems unstoppable.Update: O.K., You stick an indoor camera outdoors for five years...and it finally dies. Amazing performance, considering.

I am writing this review because of the other less than flattering review. I have three of these cameras and have found them to be very reliable and they were very easy to set up. As far as security settings, I prefer MAC address filtering, so I had no problem in communicating with them once the modem was configured. I use motion triggering to upload pictures to a remote FTP server. Using the cameras I learned that my maid service was only working about 1/3 of the time they claimed. Previously I tried two other sets of cameras and these are by far the most reliable and useful. One star off because they are quite expensive.

Possibly I was expecting too much, but for the price this should have been a high quality unit. Ended up returning it. The disappointments were:Poor low-light performance. Rated at .01 lux. It switched to B&W mode, but still the night vision was not as expected.Probably as a result of communication/processing lag, but the tilt/pan/zoom actions were not smooth, but jerky.The biggest disappointment of all was two hot pixels when viewing at night. At first I thought "what are those bright spots I cannot see with the naked eye" but soon noticed they remained in the same spot when panning. For the price, there should have been better QC on the sensor.The good points were, easy to configure, plenty of options, the motion detect is a great feature (but wish it would follow the target), embedded web interface, and quality construction.

So far so good. Pretty impressed with the zoom and resolution of the unit for the price. I replaced the stock antennae with 8dbi ones. I use IP Cam Viewer Pro on my phone to control and record. Will update this review if the unit breaks or has issues but so far so good.

I just ordered this cam and was told by the manufacturer's tech support that the two-way audio was active for any user logged on to the cam remotely (up to 20), not just the Admin user. If this turns out not to be true, the cam will be returned.

Having bought this camera in Oct 2013 and tried various similar cameras before, this one has everything I was looking for. Its well built, the quality of image is perfect, its very responsive especially in Internet Explorer and more importantly it works well in low light conditions. My camera is positioned looking through a window on a window sill. Although there is some reflection of the camera on the window hence it being white (black would be better) it isn't enough to hamper the image. The education is getting the camera to work over the internet, to do this you need a dns server account which costs between £10 - £20 a year. This took me a while to set up but it was worth putting the time in of several days for the quality of the camera. I am able to view the camera from anywhere in the world, especially in a wifi zone. I was able to setup user accounts so that members of my family could view it too for added security. On my mobile phone I use an app called mylivecams by eggman, this enables you to easily control and view the camera with ease.It is worth noting that when internet explorer was upgraded to version 10 I had trouble accessing the camera which I think is to do with activex changes. Therefore I downgraded back to version 9 and the camera works fine again. I normally use opera and firefox to browse the internet and when viewing the camera through these browsers I find some features are missing including clicking the image to pan or tilt and image quality changes.After nearly 6 months use I can certainly recommend this camera, members of my family have since purchased these and via my dns server we now have a little network where we can view each others property which is useful when any of us are away from home so someone can keep an eye on things.

Die Benutzung mit der o.g. Software hat sofort geklappt. Kamera ist intern installiert. Tagsüber gute Bildqualität. Nachts lässt sich die Kamera von starker Lichterscheinung kru blenden (z.B. Vorbeifahrende Auto).
