Great tools

I am a home handyman who maintains all of my own equipment. That includes a snowblower, a lawn tractor, a pressure washer, an outboard motor, three chainsaws and a couple of leaf blowers. That's where this mechanic's tool kit comes in handy. I can work on all of them because this kit handles both SAE and Metric sizes. The Crescent tool brand has been around for years. In fact, the name "Crescent wrench" is pretty much synonymous with an adjustable open end wrench. Crescent has earned a reputation for quality tools and this mechanic's tool kit is no exception. What I Like o Effective carrying and storage case. Hinges and latches work well. o Both SAE and Metric sizes are included. Many tool kits have just one or the other. o Beautifully finished wrenches and sockets. Mirror shine on all. o 3/8 inch drive size is "Goldilocks" size. Perfect for small engine maintenance/repair. o No manufacturing imperfections that I could find. o Comfortable handles on wrenches. o Smooth handle on ratchet. No excessive knurling to tear up hands over ended use. o Sockets snap on and off the ratchet/extension easily but securely. No wobble. Precise fit. o Attractive presentation. Good for gifting. o Reasonable price. Good value. o Overall high quality tool kit. What I Don't Like o I couldn't find anything I don't like about this kit. Summary Comments This is a high quality mechanic's tool kit that comes from a trusted brand that has been around for many years. All of the wrenches and sockets are beautifully finished with no manufacturing defects. The carrying case works well and holds the tools securely without jumbling. This kit is a good value and is a highly gift-able item. I recommend it.

This is a higher end quality tool set with a very handy plastic case to keep tools organized. The finish is superb and I doubt you will experience any rust. A mechanic must have designed this selection because there are both sae and metric sizes. I was pleased to see the finish even on the nut drivers have a rust resistant coating. Not only will you find the tools made of chrome, but some are vanadium steel so the tools should keep there edges and finish. Let me say that I am very happy with this tool set before I mention a few minor cons. Beware, when first opening the lid for the first time, there is a black zip tie, very well hidden out of sight that will need to be snipped. The plastic case has some issues. I am used to cases that the tools fit snuggly. In this case, some were loose, and some, you had to be strong to get in or out. Also, it is stand in tools to have a blue or red stripe to easy tell the sae from metric. This set employs a knurling design on the metric. I prefer the color. It would have been nice to have the nut driver ratchet, instead of be fixed. This tool set has a lot of value and many pieces such as the wrenches and socket set should last forever. I can easily recommend this tool set.

This seller is selling defectives units with defective, cracked, dropped in the floor cases. This is the second I received today...I am getting from somewhere else

Right off the bat, I’m not a mechanic. I’m a prolific DIYer and use wrenches and sockets all the time. I don’t want a thousand bits and pieces, but do want the ones that I will use most often and maybe supplement with an additional size from time to time. I would say this set fulfills 95% of my needs for wrenches, sockets, bits, and hex wrenches. The quality is very good. I don’t know how they would do with very hard daily usage, but for DIY projects, I imagine they’ll last a lifetime. The case is nice and keeps everything together well. Hopefully I can remember to return everything as I use it. Nice set at a good price.

Pieces are loose in the case. A mess every time you open the case if you've carried the case by it's handle.

This is a pretty complete set for almost every normal repair. I started working at a tune up shop when I was younger and didn't have this many tools in my box . Crescent has been around a long time and I was surprised to find this set so cheap. I like this set because I can pack it under the cargo compartment in my Highlander. This set will last me a lifetime and no you can't borrow them !
