Smooth, quiet and easy rolling! *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2020* I purchased these as replacement wheels for the vintage office chair I reupholstered and spruced up. The original hard rubber wheels were in great shape, but the hard rubber was loud on the floor as the chair rolled. And I also knew from experience that hard rubber and plastic type wheels would eventually damage my wood floor unless I used a plastic chair mat underneath (yuck). I was initially worried that these might not fit, but they fit perfectly! And the installation took less than 5 minutes, using no tools. Just pull off the old wheel and insert the new one.These are so quiet and smooth, and they are much easier to roll over floor transitions and on carpeted floors (I tested this out by rolling the chair into another room). The chrome plating matches the chrome on my vintage chair base, and the wheels are just like the ones I used to have on my Rollerblades, which feels pretty fun and modern to me. I think these are so much nicer looking than any of the other wheels online or sold in hardware and office supply stores.. These are sold as a set of 5, but my chair only uses 4 wheels, so I’m saving the extra wheel in the unlikely event that one wheel stops working. We have an office chair from staples with the double plastic casters and these wheels only added a little less than an inch.Pleasantly surprised at the thickness of the metal body, bearings and wheel rubber. The wheels gripped the floor a little when changing direction initially but after a few days they loosened up. The chair is dead silent now too.
