This was exactly what i was looking for. Used it to slow down a 3/4 horse fan motor. Offers double adjustability. There is a small hole you can access behind the main knob to move the entire seed range adjustment of the main knob up and down. Cheap and functional. Buy away. One small note, you will need an extra deep outlet/switch box to accomidate the depth of the controller behind the black aluminium heat sink.

I use this with a box fan attached just above my computer chair, close to my head, to cool me off during hot weather. My box fan's lowest setting is 3 amps so it's works much slower and uses less electricity so I'm saving money on my electricity bill. my box fan's highest amp setting is 9 amps. and this "KB Electronics 8811013 Solid State Variable speed" works with 10 amps. in case I use it at the 9 amp setting. <3 Best regards, Adrian Aarons GUTZ - YouTube ^_^

Only reduces speed by 10-15%. Used on 1/2hp exhaust fan.

Tried a less expensive unit and it was not rated to handle the amperage load of my inline fan. I needed 7 amps and this one is 10 amps. Smooth adjustment and a high quality heat sink for the heavier loads (up to 10 amps). You will need an extra deep outlet box to accommodate the larger size of the control unit if you plan on mounting it, which you should do so the wiring connectors are not exposed.

Did not work, it did slow down startup of motor but the motor DID reach its top speed quickly even with the varispeed set to its lowest speed setting.

I hooked this up to a Dayton 1/4 hp fan motor, it works well and doesn't seem to get warm with the heat sink built in. It only seems to slow the motor to a certain point, maybe half of the high rpm setting. That may be a limitation of the motor, but it does what I need it to.

The item ordered was returned twice because it was not what I needed, however, their representitive was very helpful and tried her best to get me what I needed. I would go back to them.
