Extremely loud, dysfunctional device; responsive customer service.
Ice maker was extremely loud when in operation, measuring over 80 decibels (as loud as a garbage disposal). The noise was extremely difficult to live with, though the ice it made was great, but eventually it stopped making ice altogether. Not sure whether the devices are all that loud, or if it was a symptom of a dysfunctional unit failing. Customer service was responsive and patient while walking me through a lot of different steps to try at home to fix it. Nothing worked, so they offered to send me a 50% off coupon. I didnโt want to pay any portion for a new unit, and they agreed to send a replacement unit instead. They wonโt sent the replacement unit until I submit a 5 star review though, so here we are. The unit I bought is out of stock, so at some point I will receive a different unit and hopefully it will operate at a much lower volume, as living with nonstop 80+ decibels is damaging to my familyโs hearing.

Great sonicish style ice
Makes ice similar to sonic and works well in soda. Not loud while using. Compact for apartment kitchen. Also the excellent customer service

Not sure what my expectation was, but this wasn't it
Machine LOOKS really nice, and was excited to try it out. Followed all instructions, cleaned machine, waited hours for collant to be "upright" after shipping before using. I will age, be put in an old folks home, and die before this things produces a decent amount of ice. After 30 mins there is barely enough for one drink. It spits out one little pellet every minute or two, to the point where you want to cheer and congratulate each nugget dropping into the bin. It reminds me of all the kid toy appliances (Snoopy slushy maker, easy bake oven, etc). It's cute, and it does indeed produce something.... just nothing truly helpful or usable. You just wait and wait and the small pile it makes per 30 mins is like gold, but then again, it starts melting away before you have even enough for ONE GLASS. It's a bummer because it looks the part. The noise is not terrible -- what you hear is basically the fan, which isn't annoying. (The fan and each measely pellet dropping into the bin one at a time). And, the ice is kind of nice. If you are ONE person, making ONE drink, and you have a ton of time, MAYBE this would be worth it. Otherwise, complete waste of the attractive design it came in, and embarrassingly sad function. UPDATE: I've changed my expectations, and with those I'd give this a 4. As long as you have all day to run while harvesting the bins of ice into ziplocs as they're made and put them in the freezer, you'll have a decent stash of ice. Just know you need to plan very far ahead and literally run it all day long. The ice itself is very nice.

Small but mighty
This is a very cool ice maker. It works quickly and puts out a quart of ice in less then 2 hours. Doesn't take up a lot of space. It is a little noisy but that's fine with me. The small nugget size is perfect.

No insulation. Easy to overflow onto the counter.
There is no water line and if you add water to the ice maker, without checking the level first, unlike other models, the water can flow out the sides, below the edge of the ice bucket. The ice bucket itself actually makes up the front top portion of the ice maker, seated on the sides of the reservoir and the lid is made of the same material. There is very little insulation surrounding the ice bucket, unlike most of the other countertop bullet ice models on Amazon. This means the ice melts very rapidly compared to all of the other ice makers that I have purchased (total of four). I bought this model for the sole reason that I was tired of fighting the basket to clean the gross buildup of mildew in the water collection bucket. This model does have a lid that lifts all the way up (though it is extremely difficult to get it to open and I was worried I would break it). I still appreciate that smart feature though. I've had two Newair models (one 26lb model and one 49lb model). I have also had another smaller 26lb model and a 50lb Wynter. All of those models had very thick housing and lid, and the bucket sat down inside the housing, which helped insulate the ice and slowed the melting. The ice from this water is quickly sopping wet. The cubes are two different sizes. The large size setting for the ice bullets, is what the medium size was for the other ice makers I have had. I tried to keep up on making enough ice, emptying the bucket and dumping it into an ice bin in the freezer. Unfortunately, the ice quickly freezes into an impossible brick. So plan on using an ice pick. If you use a lot of ice, this is not the model for you. We are keeping a glass carafe of filtered water ready beside the machine, because we go through a lot of ice. This one is about 2/3 or possibly half the size of the 50lb model I had. It's even significantly smaller than the 26lb model. If your counter space is at a premium, this is the smallest one I have owned and probably one of the smallest available on Amazon. Very small footprint for an ice machine. That said, if you have been disgusted with mold or sludge in other machines, the cleaning features might make up for lack of capacity. The cycle for the self-cleaning is 30 minutes. I really wish the manufacturers of the larger machine would take note of the design on this that allows you better access to clean that water collection bucket. I will keep this model for that reason alone. But if one of the larger, better insulated models gets that same lid design function, I will drop this one in a heartbeat. Another positive about the lid design is that, even in the fully open position, the lid stays open on it's own. Lid slamming was definitely a thing with all the other models I have owned. They would stay open on their own, but only if you were careful not to accidentally shove the ice maker too far back where the cabinet caused the lid to not be able to sit fully open, causing it to slam back shut when you tried to get ice. Overall, it's an attractive, space age, looking machine, with a better lid design in one respect (cleaning access), worse in the insulation and worse in that it's messy (we have overflowed it twice in the first four days). Noise level is no better or worse than any of the others I have had. You have ice dropping onto hard plastic. Every time it drops ice it's going to be loud. You get used to it and we don't notice it now. It's jarring when you are not used to it. The water filling is very quiet, compared to other models. It still makes a stressed sound when it's trying to suck water if the water level is too low which happens a lot more with this one than the others that I have owned because of the much smaller (less than half) capacity of the reservoir. It does make ice pretty quickly and there is a red light when the bucket is full, which helps somewhat to keep the water reservoir full. Does not make ice noticeably faster than other models. The water also drains really fast from the reservoir after cleaning. It's painfully slow in the other models I have owned. Better than ice trays, not as good as the 50lb models. 4 stars for how far the lid opens and ease of cleaning. 2 stars because I have had to sop up a lot of water due to overflow and also because of the poor insulation. 3 overall. I would recommend it if you need a small ice maker with a tiny (for an ice maker) footprint and if you don't want to drink that sludge from mildew due to being unable to adequately clean the water collection bucket.
