but really enjoyed this book
I have never been a fantasy reader, but really enjoyed this book. I took it to the beach for summer reading and I found myself looking forward to getting back into reading each time I had to put it down. Author has a good imagination and the flow of the book kept me interested throughout. I am looking forward to 2nd book to see how Mab resolves issues that are still hanging. I think the blend of the real world with the fantasy world was a good one and I think the reason I remained interested throughout.

Meh
I learned about this book from John Scalzi's blog 'Whatever" where author talked about it in one of "Big Ideas" entry. I love urban fantasy genre, every time I see something more or less unusual coming up, I am getting it and so I did. I think I was swayed by the promise of something more light hearted? I don't know. Paranormal detective whose origin lead to fairies is the main character. I don't know, besides the fact that I indeed don't remember fairy being a main character in the urban fantasy series that I read, it was all so predictable I suppose. Well written but predictable. It was a pleasant way to pass time but no more than that for me.

Fairy Tale with a Modern Twist
This isn't a book about high stakes or huge drama--it's a cozy urban fantasy with a sweet romance. Really, that's just what I needed during a high-stress week. Mab is a very sympathetic heroine--a fairy forced to become human--and it was a joy to read about her. This novel reads fast and it feels like I had only a brief peak into a vast and fascinating world. I can't wait for the next one!

Well written and a good read
Fantasy is not a genre that I usually read or enjoy, but I really enjoyed this book. That the author could have created this fantasy world and made it believable shows a rare talent. The story kept me interested, but the way it was written was what I enjoyed the most. The author is a gifted writer, and I appreciate good writing no matter what the genre. Occasionally, the flow seemed awkward, but It appeared to be a flaw in the way it was edited - perhaps the text was cut to shorten the length. I look forward to the continuing story of Mabily.

Fantasy and Real Life
OMG! I loved this book. This was a great story that kept my attention from the beginning. There were highs and lows in each chapter. She is a good author. The book flows well with lots of internal messages. It's a great fiction story but very relative to real life in many ways. I needed a good read and I'm looking forward to her next story.

Sweet. But...
I really enjoy urban fantasy and I love the themes of this, faerie being connected to human worlds, needing each other I mean. But the main character doesn't quite feel real to me and the magic Elixer which is either in your blood or something that runs in the ocean of Faerie? I couldn't feel comfortable with how that operated. So I won't be picking up #2 but will look for more later by this author.

Never a dull moment.
My teen-aged daughter will love it! Fairies with a contemporary twist. Mab will inspire many a young woman. We look forward to more in the series.
