FST2** A: The combs are plastic, and pretty tough. I have put one of the combs through about 30 hours of tough work, about 100 square feet of coil area, and the comb is still in very good shape. The results were incredible. The previous owner used a pressure washer to clean the coils, and flattened quite a few areas on the coil. The A/C repairman recommended getting a new coil, I never got a price, but I managed to straighten almost all of the fins for $50.
