Great knives
Very good blade . Every "budget knife" that says full tang I take apart to see if its true. It's surprising how many "full tang knives" are not full tang. This one is! And stainless steall is great fir this size blade. And, its not just the 550 cord wrapped around the tang, its has a pinned wooden handle . I polished it up with Flitz and it looks amazing. It comes factory "sharp" but does sharpen up easily to a razor edge. It sits now with much more expensive knives and fits right in.

Extremely Pleased with this Tanto
Good tanto at any price but an excellent tanto at this price (I paid $22 for it). The sheath is actually better than previous reviews will lead you to believe. Those reviewers don't understand that it is designed to be worn IWB (Inside the Waist Band) or tucked into a belt much like a samurai would tuck their tanto into their obi. The little loop on the sheath is not designed to hang on the belt but to flip OVER the pants and anchor to the belt when the sheath is tucked inside the pants to keep the sheath from flying outward when the tanto is drawn. WARNING: I do not recommend carrying it this way if, like me, you are a bit girthy - you might give yourself a nasty slice. Also check your local laws about carry a concealed weapon before you do. The paracord that wraps the handle may be a little loose when it arrives and may loosen up over time. Fix or remedy this by simply applying a little fire. The cord is made of nylon and will tighten up and bond with itself by passing the flame of a lighter gently under it. Do so ever so gently. Too much will overly melt it. A little at a time and check repeatedly until you are satisfied with the results. I recommend this instead applying a glue which (depending on the glue you use) could have an unfortunate chemical reaction to the paracord or spillage could mar the finish of the knife. The blade is quite good. The truth is it is similar to what you would find on a budget samurai sword wall hanger. For a sword, this steel and finish combo is too hard/brittle - a sword needs a certain amount of flex or it will snap under it's own weight when in use. The length of a sword puts too much stress on this particular metallurgical makeup. For a tanto, however, the application is different and this steel and finish combo works very well. The short length of the blade dissipates the stress element and the hardness of the blade holds an edge very well. I love this tanto.

Nice, affordable knife.
It's nice. I like it. It probably won't fully satisfy a knife collector. But it is a nice, affordable knife and a good value for the money. One reviewer said theirs was "razor sharp." The cutting edge of the one I received is a far cry from "razor sharp." But it isn't dull. I probably will eventually sharpen it further. Another reviewer complained about the weight of the knife, disappointed that it was as light as it is. It probably is lacking some heft, but with this particular knife, I wasn't looking for something heavy. I was looking for something on the lighter side: something light enough to quickly and conveniently tuck in the waistband of my sweatpants or jeans if I was just stepping outside for a minute or two, like to take out the trash or set up the sprinkler. The light weight of the knife and sheath fit the bill perfectly. So I'm happy with the weight. I bought this strictly to carry on my person as a close-quarters personal defense weapon when I am on my own property, and never to be used as a utility knife, or hunting or fishing knife, or anything else, nor kept as a collection piece. If I am lounging or exercising at home in my sweats and there's a knock at the door, I can effortlessly and thoughtlessly tuck it in the elastic band of my sweatpants and know it will hold it just fine for a couple minutes. With the bottom of my shirt easily covering what's sticking up above the waistband, I can then see who is at the door and, if I decided to answer the door, I won't alarm anyone by appearing armed. At the same time, I have a good-sized knife I don't have to open or otherwise fiddle with that's fairly secure on my person and easily drawn from the sheath. One reviewer complained about the "paracord handle," saying it was virtually just a nylon shoestring. Again, I wasn't looking for a collection piece. Just a personal defense weapon. The "paracord handle" looks minimally fine to me and seems adequately functional for a decent/good grip for personal defense. Another reviewer re-wrapped the handle in tsuka-maki fashion and provided pictures of the result and the knife now looks beautiful. It's a great idea and I plan to do the same with mine as well at some point. I paid $20. I consider it a good value for $20 and am pleased with my purchase. Out of the box, it is adequate for the stated singular purpose for which I bought it. And in the future I plan to make a better, more beautiful knife out of it by further sharpening it and learning how to do a tsuka-maki re-wrap of the handle. GREAT KNIFE!
Shaving and paper sharp right out of the box! Good weight and soine thickness. Tough 440C stainless steel. Nice. Handle wrap is nice tight and feels good. But you can customize the handle if you wish.

Great deal for the price; pining for a good tanto knife, then get this one
This thing is awesome. I really want to put it through it's paces and see how well it performs. From inspecting it and handling it, I can honestly say you should get this if you are looking for a good tanto design but don't want to drop a $150+ on a Cold Steel Master Tanto. The balance is good, the quality of the workmanship is excellent, and the cord wrap is well-done. A small detail that I think speaks volumes to the quality of the knife is that the wrap swells on the right side of the handle. A common way to wrap a knife handle involves folding the cord as you go. This will cause one side to swell out while the other is flat. Done right, as it is on this knife, that means when you hold it in your right hand with the blade forward, the thicker part is facing into your palm and giving you a better grip. The nice thing about paracord is that it is so easy to work with. For example, if you are worried about it coming loose but want to be able to unwrap it in an emergency, you can run a lighter flame up and down the different sides of the handle and get the cord to melt just enough to stick to itself without substantially weakening it. If you don't like the way the manufacturer tied off the cord, then you can use a light to melt the area below the knot for the tassle and then cut off the knot and tassle altogether. All in all, you can't beat what you get for the price. The closest competitor in price is the Cold Steel lite Tanto but that is a much much thinner blade. This is robust, well-made, and comfortable. I definitely recommend it.

Great knife!!
I recently purchased the Grand Way Japanese Fixed Blade Tanto Knife and I am amazed by its quality and craftsmanship. The 5,9" polished sharp blade is incredibly sharp and has exceeded my expectations. The paracord handle is comfortable to grip and provides a secure and non-slip hold. I love how versatile this knife is, making it perfect for survival, hunting, camping, hiking, or just everyday use. The included sheath is of good quality and ensures that the knife is safe and secure when not in use. I have used this knife to cut through tough materials with ease and precision. It is not only a great tool, but also a beautiful work of art. The intricate design on the blade is stunning, adding to the overall aesthetics of the knife. If you are looking for a high-quality, well-designed Japanese Tanto Knife, then I would highly recommend the Grand Way Japanese Fixed Blade Tanto Knife. It would make an excellent birthday, Christmas, or Father’s Day gift for any knife enthusiast or outdoorsman.

A “Good” Gift
The weight and grip is suffice. But, when given the choice to sharpen it better for easier cut, it sadly wasn’t sharp enough. I cut the box, and it was somewhat blunt. Sure, it cuts through, but not enough to the point that it’s able to easily cut all the way through. The quality is great! Some tape stains here and there, but easy to remove. The size isn’t that big, but just enough length to cut things away from the grip handle (since there’s no guard). But the best out of all is the font I chose! Could’ve done the fonts on both sides of the blade. But doing so might have problems later, so who knows?

Average quality at a decent price
I've owned a few GW knives, and they're all consistently "average" in quality. Not the best in its category, but far from the worst, and a very fair value for the price. This one is no exception. I bought this to be an inexpensive knife to practice freehand sharpening on, so I don't ruin my more expensive tanto blades while learning. Outside of "sharpening practice", I struggle to find a real use-case for this knife. It's too large for EDC tasks, porous materials in the handle make it ill-suited for food prep, it's too flimsy for self-defense, and the tanto blade shape doesn't lend itself well to bushcraft/woodworking. Perhaps I'm just not thinking creatively enough, but this will likely end up going mostly unused for any actual cutting tasks, for me. The blade itself is about what you'd expect for a $20 knife. The bevel is pretty consistent along the whole edge of the knife. However the primary and secondary points on the edge are both a bit rounder they appear in the photos. It also needed to immediately be sharpened, as it was barely sharp enough to cut paper, out of the box. There was also a very tiny chip in the edge, which came out after sharpening but was still annoying to see on a brand new knife. The handle is wrapped with paracord, but I feel like it's wrapped too loosely, as the grip slides up and down pretty significantly as you hold and use the knife. While breaking down a few cardboard boxes, the paracord slipped so much that it began to feel unsafe to continue cutting. I feel like just a few more inches of paracord, to allow for an extra coil or two around the handle, would tremendously improve the grip and reduce the amount of sliding. Underneath the paracord wrap is a handle made of raw, untreated wood. The thinness of the wood and sharpness of the corners make it uncomfortable to hold without the paracord wrap. The "guard" piece also rattles quite a bit. It's quite difficult to get a confident grip on this knife, and I could not recommend carrying this for self-defense purposes whatsoever. There is also a paracord lanyard on the handle, which seems a bit unnecessary for this type of knife, and only serves to get in the way most of the time. The sheath is a little finicky. It's made from a fabric material, and the flexibility of this material makes inserting the knife into the sheath a cumbersome task at times, as sometimes the tip will catch along the fabric before reaching the bottom. The sheath also only offers one carry option; a loop that you run a belt through. It doesn't seem to be compatible with any mounting/clip system that I know of. Because the sheath is fabric, the knife does not "lock" into place, so any inverted/sideways carry options are going to risk having the knife slip out. There is no way to adjust this loop or remove it from the sheath, so your options for carrying this knife are extremely limited. That said, these complaints are mostly just nitpicks. It's important to remember that this is a $20 knife (and it was 50% off when I ordered it), and you're definitely getting $20 of quality out of this knife. I wouldn't buy it again, but I also don't regret buying this either.
