## Overview

Jacquard SolarFast Wash is a specialized 8oz textile cleaner designed to fix and preserve sun-printed fabric art. It removes undeveloped dye, prevents backstaining, and enhances color vibrancy, ensuring your SolarFast projects stay crisp and bold through multiple washes. Ideal for cotton, linen, silk, and other natural fibers, this concentrated formula is the essential finishing step for professional-quality textile printing.

## Description

When working with SolarFast Dyes, the Wash removes undeveloped dye from prints and reduces the risk of back staining during washing. This is especially important for preserving white areas and highlights when making photographic prints on fabric or paper.

## Features

- PRESERVE YOUR ARTWORK'S VIBRANCY: Stop your beautiful sun prints from fading in the wash. Jacquard SolarFast Wash is the essential final step that removes undeveloped dye, permanently setting your design. This specialised textile cleaner ensures your colours remain crisp, bold, and true to your vision, wash after wash. Secure your creative work and prevent the disappointment of a washed-out masterpiece.
- ACHIEVE CLEAN, CRISP RESULTS: Say goodbye to muddy colours and unwanted dye bleeds. This powerful post-dye wash suspends excess dye particles in the water, preventing them from re-staining other areas of your fabric or other garments in the machine. It delivers sharp, defined edges and clean negative spaces, ensuring your final piece looks exactly as you intended. Ideal for intricate designs on cotton, linen, silk, and other natural fibres.
- SIMPLIFY YOUR DYEING PROCESS: Finalising your SolarFast projects is now straightforward and efficient. A single capful in a hot wash cycle is all it takes to fix your prints. This 8oz (236ml) bottle is highly concentrated, providing enough cleaner for numerous projects. Spend less time worrying about the finishing process and more time creating with this essential fabric craft supply that integrates seamlessly into your workflow.
- PROTECT YOUR CREATIVE INVESTMENT: You've invested time, effort, and materials into your textile art. Do not leave the final, most critical step to chance with a standard detergent. SolarFast Wash is specifically formulated by Jacquard to work with their dyes, safeguarding your projects from catastrophic failures. It is the only recommended aftercare solution that delivers consistent, reliable results for all your sun printing endeavours.
- ESSENTIAL FOR ALL TEXTILE ARTISTS: While indispensable for SolarFast, this textile wash is a valuable addition to any fabric artist's toolkit. Use it as a final wash for other dye types to help remove excess colour and improve colourfastness. It also serves as an effective pre-wash to remove sizing, oils, and impurities from fabric, preparing it for optimal dye absorption. A versatile and indispensable solution for your studio.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will the image still last without using the SolarFast detergent wash after the dye?**
A: It should! I used this product about a year ago without the detergent and I haven't had any issues with the images fading.

**Q: Can you use xray film?**
A: Yes you can, but it will give you dark bones and light negative space. So consider an Xray is a positive and not a negative

**Q: Will the image still last without using the SolarFast detergent wash after the dye?**
A: Probably not. Exposing it to the sun without the wash will continue to expose the image, and all parts that have unexposed dye will become dark, unless you leave dye off of some parts. This would be hard for photo exposure, but may be possible with tie-dye. Not sure if the dye itself comes out with regular clothing detergent prior to "fixing" it with the solarfast detergent. Hope this helps.

**Q: Does anyone know how long to make a print with the blue on fabric?**
A: It varies depending on the strength of the sun and how clear the sky is (it takes longer if there are clouds), but I've found you can get a good print in about 10 minutes on a sunny day. I don't remember what it is off the top of my head, but the package also has the recommended exposure time on it.
