SR60x

Let me preface this, I do not leave reviews typically. So imagine my surprise when I'm binging on youtube and find several videos telling me about how sound produced on most earbuds and headsets isn't what you necessarily think. Queue the next video showing off a pair of Grado SR60 e's, these headphones are deceptively nice. They're incredibly comfortable on my much larger than normal head (I can't wear most headphones or even generic helmets.) The padding is enough that it clamps down on the skull but not even close to cause discomfort. The build quality is cheaper than others in the Grado lineup, but this is also their budget model in comparison to what they offer. Now these headphones offer something that almost every pair of headphones chooses to shy away from, open back headphones. You can hear everything as if the music was just part of the environment. This said sound does spill out so don't use these to keep your music taste private or in an attempt to be polite in close quarters. This all said the sound produced by Grado Labs has ruined every single pair of headphones and earbuds I have ever used up to this point. It's almost as if you walked into your grandad's garage and hooked up his old stereo system. I won't go into detail but this is genuinely a religious experience if you thought you loved music before. This all said there's one vital piece to the puzzle that is NOT provided. A DAC. The audio out of the box is already superb and I was definitely happy with it, HOWEVER a DAC is the key to unlocking the true potential of these headphones. You don't need anything expensive to make these sound better, a cheap usb-c or lightning to 3.5mm audio DAC is perfectly fine to get started! Overall I cannot recommend these enough to everyone!

Like everyone else, I saw these on DankPods and had to see for myself. I have a pair of really nice bookshelf speakers I leave on my desk, and these headphones sound like they are playing when I put them on. It's uncanny how good they sound. I use the speakers for everyday use, and I love them, but sometimes, I can't play loud music/content/games (like late at night). These are perfect for those times. Alternatively, I use them when there is other stuff going on so I don't annoy the family, yet can still hear when something needs my attention. Sound stage is massive, details are beautifully clear. You would be surprised how much you are missing. Ever hear the high-hats rattle in a song when the drummer strikes them? Now you can. Another thing I use them for is gaming when I need better spatial awareness. The raid in Fallout 76 for instance, these let me hear the ultracite miner running through the tunnels, so I can track where he is. Very helpful. Bass isn't as heavy as you would get from, say, skullcandy, but it's still really good. Plus, you can always crank up the bass on your EQ if you think it's lacking. If I had a criticism, it would be the cable. It's nice, and I like the woven sheath, but it is quite thick and fairly stiff. I'd rather they use a thinner cord that can be removed from the cans. Small complaint, and not nearly enough for me to steer someone away from them.

God I love these. I first bought these in the early 2000’s and lost them during a move recently. I just bought another pair with the fear they cheapened them, just cuz. Nope, they are still comfortable, light and portable, excellent clarity, and works well for my needs. Incredible sound. NOT noise-cancelling if that’s what you’re looking for.

I always been a fan of Grado. Back in the days when I lived in Brooklyn, just a stone’s throw away from Grado Labs, but never visited the store actually, (just passed it several times over the years.) I did, however, use their entry level headphones and brought a few Grado cartridges for my AR turntable. (Yes that’s how long ago that was.) It was the Golden age of stereo for me, just a fun time. I remember using the Grado Headphones with my portable CD player, resting nearby on my nightstand, appreciating all the beautiful music they provided, simply a steal at that time, hands down! So, do the Gardo’s still sound that good with their latest X driver release? Well, if you are looking for a flat analytical device - forget it, that’s not what these Headphones are about. There is a noticeable degree of brightness in the highs, that a good burn-in should temper somewhat; however, if you already have a bright system in place, you may have a problem there, (Dependent on your taste of course.) Liking the Grado Headphones is a little like acquiring a taste for something that you didn’t find appealing at first, but eventually came to love over time, what do I mean by that! Here are some examples, one - do they put you’re in the middle of a jazz nightclub like some of the best HIFI man headphone can do (My Ananda’s comes to mind), short is answer no (Are they delicate and sweet on the top end, when called upon to be so, nope! Not to me anyway. Do they have loads of earth-shattering bass! The quick answer is no, but the bass that is there, is fine to me, just not for bass heads. Now, put on a good jazz recording and you’ll be tapping your feet, or put on American Pie sung by Home Free, and by God the hairs on your arms will stand up (they did for me!) So, what do I think the secret ingredient is with these headphones, It’s the aliveness these Grado’s throw at you, and it can be addictive? While other Headphones, will put you nicely in the room, with all the musicians in place and give you a, you are there type of presentation, with a room full of spacious sound … the Grado’s on the other hand, will grab you by the collar and tell you - here it comes, right at you, which may be the reason they can sound so exciting at times. So that’s the trade off my friend, which everyone must decide for themselves. I know I won’t be sending mine back! What I don’t know is how the higher tier Grados sound, do they change some of the things I mentioned earlier in my review – I don’t know (never tried any of the others.) Now back down on planet Earth, and the bottom line, are these Grado’s (SR 60X) worth it to me? Absolutely yes, no contest! Happy listening. Bobby J

Brilliant!! Still so good to this day, using it with Ifi zen dac its even better the sounds are more crisp and clear the bass is so so good, movies with this is so immersive. The only nitpick is you hear your surroundings but what you get in sound quality is worth it.

At this price point these headphones are very nice. I don't like Over-Ear headphones, I like On-Ear and I spend a long time to find these. The sound quality is great, I'm not a DJ or Audiophile but when I got them I remember the step in sound quality. I find them comfortable. I use them on my computer every day. Recently in the last 2 months though, the right headphone sound has cut out and finally gave up completely. Engineer I am, I was sure it would be a solder connection came loose from cable tug; I ripped it apart and was surprised to find the cable still soldered to the speaker pad. Whatever cable they use on this feels nice on the outside but just doesn't connect after enough use. I may be wrong but it looked like they use single conductor cable instead of stranded copper cable, which means that after enough bending and moving it's sure to eventually fail. I can't b--- too much because of the price, and I did use them every day for 15 months QUITE happily. But there's a bad taste I have knowing I just edged out the 1-year warranty and this cable seems to be a pain point for other people as well.

Good from left to right, high and low, front and behind. Light, well manafactured. Incredible mids -piano, guitar, vocals. For the price is one of the best choices. I am listening from the pc directly and you tube music, no headphone amp, no special dac. Headband was improved with a cushion foam. I have no issues wearing glasses. Clamping force is on the medium/heavy side though the headphones are very light; all in all you can use it for hours with no complains. Cable is much better than before but shorter, from 3m to 1.2m. The X series is a real upgrade from de I & E former lines up. Best.

As headphones for wearing for long periods of time, it's a 5/5 hands down. Compared to the other headphones I own like the Samson 850's, Sony MDR-7506's and the Sony WH1000-XM3's, I use the Grado's most often because of the conformable metal headband. You can bend it to shape so that the earmuffs barely press against the ears. As far as sound is concerned, they are bright with a notable emphasis placed on higher frequencies. Mids are acceptable for my taste. Sub-bass does not even register in these. They are not suitable for bringing onto a train or bus as they have no active or passive noise canceling. With regards to soundstage, to my ears they don't sound like speakers, per se, but more like an auditory hallucination. Since I adjusted the headband so that the ear muffs barely press against the ear, the sound of a knocking door in the headphones sounds as though it came from the environment. 5 stars for style and comfort. 4 stars if sturdiness matters most. 3 stars if you're looking for critical listening headphones. 2 stars if isolation's what you're after.

Stunning sound quality, while definitely not for everyone as they are quite sparkly sounding as opposed to bassy people looking for headphones that let you hear every little sound and experience music,video games and movies in a different way are in for a treat Well built and extremely comfortable I absolutely adore these headphones Bonus points for the retro style

I had many requirements for headphones, and these were the only quality option. I needed headphones that were on-ear with an open back, not to get tinnitus or warm ears. Most are over-ear and give me pressure, warm ears, and tinnitus. I saw the price and thought they would be garbage, but I am pleasantly surprised. The headphones are very light, and the cushioning is simple. I can wear these all day instead of the Bose on-ears I had without an open back. The sound of these is just way better than I experienced before, probably because of the open back. It definitely does not give me tinnitus or ear pressure/warm ears. All in all, great headphones. Too cheap in my opinion. I have a feeling these will be long-lasting. I never write reviews, but these headphones deserve some attention and the creators some praise. Godspeed

普段は何台かのスピーカーで音楽を楽しんでいるが夜などに音楽を聴くときはパソコンに繋いだaudioqest dragonfly blackにS R60xを接続して聴いている。旧60も上位のタイプも所有しているが私は60,60xが大好きだ。趣味でピアノを弾き聴覚が良い妻が好むある曲のギターの音をスピーカーのLc24.75f,Focus160,Scm-7,T d510などから出る音よりこのヘッドフォンで聴く音の方が好きだと言っていた。

I hav multiple headphones and earphones ranging from 18,- euro to 599,- euro. These headphones sound extremely well. I enjoy them as much, or even more than my Denon-ahd5200(599,- euro), my PSB M4U(399,- euro) or my HiFiMan HE400SE(139,- euro). They are mabybe not the most neutral or technical but boy oh boy are these cans fun to listen to! When lying in bed I can just listen to them hour after hour. I also tested his big brother (SR325X 399,- euro) but the SR60X almost sound the same and are just as fun to listen to. My first Grado and I am hooked to the “Grado sound”. This is a no brainer. In for a headphone and you have the budget? Buy the SR60X!!!
