Great book for 9 & 10 year olds.
Very good children’s book. The child I assisted with reading very much enjoyed the book. It offered him a book with moral principles and interrelationship issues to be discussed.

wonderful book
This book was so good! It really makes you think what teenagers are going through! Timothy would do anything for his brother!

Moving and powerful. A great read.
Wow. This book! It's so much more than I thought it would be. Timothy is on probation and house arrest and the story is told in verse, through journal entries to his probation officer and therapist. You find that Timothy is an amazing kid who adores his single mother, and his brother (who seems to suffer from cystic fibrosis) even more. It's a sad story about poverty, class, medical care/costs, and crime and how all of these things are connected. I'ts a very fast read, perfect for any reader, 4th Grade through adult. Well done.

Inspired my son to start his own journal.
I bought this book as a recommendation of my son’s English teacher and it was really good. It’s about a boy that stole a wallet to buy medicine for his baby brother, and after que got “arrested” he was sentence to house arrest and to write a journal about this year and what he had done. The book is funny and it’s a beautiful story. My son finished it and started his own journal, which made me surprised :) I recommend but a give the noticed that some languages/ words might be too slang for small children.

Heart wrenching
This book came out of no where and broke my heart into a bazillion pieces. I found the kindle edition on sale through one of my deal emails. I almost never read a book right after I get it (ridiculous, right?) but I started House Arrest because I was curious, and I did not put it down until I finished it around 24 hours later. Timothy and Levi have the same age gap that my sons do. Almost exactly the same. And for the entire book, I could not stop comparing my children to Timothy and Levi, in the best and worst ways. I cried from the beginning until the end. Life just isn't ever fair, is it? I am looking forward to the companion book/sequel so I can find out how Timothy made it out, but also to learn more about this family!

Great Story for Middle Schoolers
I've read this book at least three times, and I've loved it every single time. I think I cried more on the third reading than the other two! The main character, Timothy, is excellent. He's snarky and compassionate and caring and really just a normal 12-year-old in a very difficult situation. He doesn't always make the best decisions, but he leads with his heart. I love this story so much.

A great read for anyone!!
Quick read. LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. Really teaches understanding and compassion. It was funny and sad and touching and just a really wonderful book. I listened to it on audio book and loved it enough I had to purchase a copy for myself (new and excellent condition). I think it would be great for "tough" kids, good kids, bullies, anybody. I am a middle school teacher and would love for my students to read it, and I also asked my husband to read it! It's great for anyone, I'd say 12 to 112. :)

This Novel in Verse is a Must Read.
K.A Holt does a great job with the up and down emotional journey of this young man on House Arrest for theft. Left me thinking...what would one do to help their mother? Their sick brother? You can feel the characters love, sadness, anger, and rage as he tries to get through the difficult times with his mother and sick brother. Great read for middle schoolers! This Novel in Verse is a Must Read.

Beautiful and deceptively simple
The poetic language makes this a fast read, but it packs a huge amount of humor and heart in a small number of words. The narrator is a believable and highly likable kid. Don't make the mistake of reading it in a public place, though-- I found myself sitting in the airport, trying hard not to cry.
