Just suck it up buttercup
AND BUY THIS KNIFE. So I don’t even know where to start as to why I bought this knife... long and short, I mostly wanted a “budget” knife that I could feel ok about working over at camp or in the wild some where. FAILED. I did not want to spend this amount of money for a knife to beat up in the field, but I did and I am SO NOT SORRY. If I had the money right now, I would buy the whole ESEE knife line—all of them for no reason but to just have. I fell in love with this knife immediately... it’s hella sharp and just tears through wood and processes it all with ease. It not only looks cool but it feels really good in the hand—makes you feel like it’s going to work very hard and very well for you. It’s light enough to not get tired using it and heavy enough to get work done. I am a rookie at “survival”/bush craft (I have to call it camping to these city folks out here who think I am crazy) and I was able to manage basic tasks with just the one knife and with confidence that I could handle the blade. PLEASE just spend the money on one high quality knife and you will not be sorry. I’m already eyeballing the PR-4 so I can round off both sides of survival and bushcraft and keep it in the same line of knives. Also, because I watch a few to many YouTube vids, I did a thing...see the pics. The carbon fiber sheath matches the handles! Yeeeeah I am that person. Look why not survive with style?! Plus, I can attach my fire kit to the Titan Survival Cord and feel confident that I can always make fire. Like so..see last pic. Naturally, I am changing the pouch to black, again, style points! Upgraded sheath or not... JUST BUY THIS BLADE.

Perfect all around.
The Esee 6 has to be by far the best knife of its size in its price range. It’s durable, strong, and holds a decent edge. It’s very deployable in a large range of applications, including batoning. It fits well in the hand and the weight is very pleasing. It is a high carbon blade so if you get it wet make sure to dry it off to avoid oxidation, but most knives of decent quality there is a part of maintenance on your end to maintain the blades integrity. The clip that comes with the sheath for your belt is the only bad smell about it. But I swapped it out with a different mounting application so all is well!

most impressive
one of the best knives i have ever used. i cant say much that hasn't been said by other reviewers. been hard using this thing for about a month now and its awesome. as advertised it holds an edge well, and is easy to sharpen and hone back to razor sharp. so far no chips or rolling of the blade. the powder coat will probably last forever. the handle is comfortable, but as with all micarta handles i would suggest using gloves, because its almost too grippy, to the point of almost being sandpaper on the skin. its the perfect length and thickness for the terrain near where i live (central texas). i love the outdoor applications, but this also has some value as a "tactical" blade as well. it a great design. only two complaints. 1.) its a matter of preference, but i'm not a big fan of finger choils, i'd rather have the extra 1/2" of cutting surface, the design of the blade kind of forces you to use the choil on detail work. 2.) the micarta handle seems to be coming off the blade on one side. ive been beating the hell out of this thing, and while the blade is fine, the handle may need to be replaced. i may contact esee about it, just to see what they say.

Good value, great knife
There are so many decent production knives out there, it’s hard to say which is the “best” one. Most will handle normal outdoor chores with no problem and a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I have a few ESEE knives and a bunch of other brands also. ESEE has been good to me and handled everything I threw at them. I like that they come in bright colors if you want them. I like the orange handle scales in case I drop it in the leaves. Easy to find that way. I also like that they are more geared towards outdoor use and not “tacticool “ of course they would work well for self defense if needed, but anything sharp can do that. The high carbon steel holds an edge well and is easy to sharpen back to a decent edge with a few strokes. Can’t beat the warranty either. Lifetime, no questions asked. Again, there are lots of decent knives in this price range, but you can’t go wrong with ESEE. They are well regarded in the outdoor/survival world.
