Pleasantly surprised
I have very dry hands and have always had issues gripping my sticks. I've tried almost everything out there, dipped sticks, tapes, and for a while was using stick wax which worked well but I got tired of cleaning it off my rims. I've always been a fan of Promark sticks so gave these a try. I was hesitant at first because I did not like how the grip covered the entire stick and was concerned how that would sound on cymbals and if it would flake off easily, etc. I've been using these for two weeks and have been very pleased. The sound is great, I like the slightly larger acorn tip. And the coating is holding up very well. Nothing flaking off on my cymbals, pretty much just looks like a regular stick. The grip is great. It felt a little powdery at first, but I just washed them quickly with warm water and dish detergent and they are nice and tacky, but not too tacky. I think these would work well for any situation, whether you have dry hands like me or get sweaty hands. They seem very durable, great balance and weight. My other concern was the wood tip. While I like to use them to perform, I prefer to practice with nylon as they last longer. I've had issues with wood tips chipping after a while. These seem very durable and are holding up well, so we'll see over time. Overall, I highly recommend if you have issues gripping your sticks.

Stick may end up looking ragged from midway to tip, but they're still so reliable!
I have been buying these for years for my son, from age 10-16. He plays very hard and often. Let's say while playing an important gig (with Sean Yseult from White Zombie), he was using another pair of sticks that broke. Thankfully he had a masterful handoff of a Promark and he's never gone back since! Seriously though, these sticks are incredible. They don't slip, and even though the black wears off midway to the tip (just proof you're actually using them), the grips stay true and don't peel or wear off. The wood will wear, but he's played his sticks to whittled nubs. They DO break after time, but always when old and worn, not prematurely. Something we can say about all the Promark sticks he uses. These are his favorite though. If you watch the video you can see the black at the grip and the weathered mid to end. But you can also see how they hold up to tough playing for 5+ minutes, even in this state. Other sticks would have given up for sure. Highly recommend these sticks. I buy them both through Amazon and at music stores when I see them.

Thicker than my normal sticks, but I like the feel
I normally use Promark TXJZW (Elvin Jones signature model with wood tips), but despite a lifelong love of thinner sticks I felt the need to experiment with something thicker. These are .535 inches versus the Elvin Jones model I had been using, which come in at .512 inches. Still, these felt good in my hands. If you are expecting the same style of non-slip finish that Regal Tip touts, you will be disappointed. However, it's superior to the finishes in the older Promark models. Normally when I play my left stick tends to slide away. I am a traditional grip player, so that probably makes sense. Not so with the ActiveGrip finish. What I like is it's non intrusive. You don't even know that it's there, unlike the Regal Tip and some of the dipped finish sticks on the market. Also I was impressed with the overall feel. These are definitely designed for traditional grip players. Or they feel that way to me. In fact, the feel - except for the diameter - is very similar to the Elvin Jones model that have been my go-to sticks for decades. That brings me to the rebound part: these sticks seem to have the same rebound characteristics as the Elvin Jones. I compared them side by side and the stick geometry of both (except diameters) look very close to the eye. Also, like my Elvin Jones model and unlike most other 7A models from other brands, including Promark, these are a fill 16 inches long, Again, perhaps that has more to do with engineering in the rebound characteristics and not making a shorter stick unduly fragile due to the taper. Bottom line: I like them. I will need a lot more time before I would consider switching exclusively to this model, but I am not ruling it out.

Works great with sweaty hands.
Love these sticks. Well balanced and stays in your hands. The only downside is durability. The tips flake off long before the stick wears out. They would be great with nylon tips.

Great Sticks BUT Inspect Them Carefully!
These are fantastic drumsticks! There are well balanced, non-slip and sound great! SADLY, I am deducting at least one star because of a noticeable flaw in the finish of one of the drumsticks that either got by QC or allowed to pass through by AQL, uggh. My left-handed luck lol.

Exceptional drum sticks
Very nice sticks and have a very nice tactile feel with great rebound. The black coating is a nice touch and aides in grip and comfort. The 5B adds a little more power when making contact with the heads. Highly recommend

Go-To sticks
My son takes drum lessons with a mainstream music school. Part of their program is to build confidence and get the kids to perform live on a stage at local venues every few months. He still gets a bit nervous and mentions his hands sweat (I secretly worried about him accidentally flinging the sticks). I did some searching and saw mostly grip-tape products, and was concerned that wrapping the sticks with tape may add thickness and weight and throw his playing off a bit. Then I found these and since they had good reviews, I picked him up a pair to try. I wanted to make sure his teacher was ok with these or possibly give a reason why they weren't a good idea, but was pleased when he exclaimed "oh those are what I use when I perform!" That was a good sign. My son's been using these about 6 months for both practice and performing, with good results. To avoid having to adapt to different sticks, he decided to use them as his everyday sticks. They are just slightly tacky when you first hold them but as your hand sweats, they actually grip better. Other than that they play and feel like any standard stick (5A in his case). After a few months the ends of the sticks do show wear from rim hits (he's still learning) but the playing and sound is not affected. The photo is after 6 months and shows wear from hitting the rim, but the grip area is still perfect. The actual tips do not have the coating and are bare wood. He has another live show coming up so I threw a new pair in his Christmas stocking to use for performances that don't look so beat up. He'll continue using his original pair and have a newer pair for shows. A few of his fellow drummers have brightly colored sticks just to be different and flashy. He's not a glamor kid, so the cool but serious black color fits him more while also providing the non-slip functionality. He's happy with these, so I can see them continuing to be his go-to sticks for some time. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are too brief and don't support their opinions with examples. Writing useful reviews helps pay it forward.
