Xbox Series X 5.1 via optical/toslink out
The only way I found to get a Dolby or DTS 5.1 signal from this device to a non-HDMI receiver was to set the switch on the J-Tech unit to “tv”. With the switch set to 5.1 the unit was still only outputting a stereo signal. Set to “tv” it functions as expected. It also successfully passes 4K 120Hz signals.

Works as designed
I was using and old Roku device with built in optical out connect to a Sound system with too few HDMI inputs it had optical in I could use. The replacement ROKU devices no longer have optical out. This box worked perfectly for me.

Broke after 8 months, support is useless, buy another brand
This worked great up until the 8 month mark, after which it stopped outputting video while audio still worked. I went through all the usual troubleshooting tips, tried it with my chromecast ultra, samsung blu-ray player, 2 different laptops, and gaming desktop with a 3070. All of them played audio through this audio extractor but the TV still said no signal. Bypassing the extractor and plugging each of these in directly worked fine. At first, support was helpful and they sent me a replacement, but the replacement had the same issue. Wanting to determine once and for all if it was the extractor's fault, I bought another brand (the VPFET HDMI audio extractor), and lo and behold it worked perfectly using the exact same input devices and cables I was using with this one - essentially proving that something in this audio extractor had stopped working with my setup. Here's where support started to get annoying and useless, after I sent it back again with an excruciating amount of detail about the video modes of every device I tested it with and with the information that a different audio extractor worked fine, proving that theirs is faulty, I was given back a video of them using the device with their own TV of a different brand as if that proves that it doesn't have issues with any other device (and they didn't even use the same generation chromecast that I used it with, not that it matters as much since I tried 5 different devices to no avail). At this point they are refusing to do anything other than return to me the malfunctioning unit or give me store credit to buy another one of their products, which obviously is useless to me since I already needed to buy another brand to prove that their audio extractor was the issue, and if they returned the unit to me the only thing I can do is toss it in the trash since the HDMI output is broken as far as I can tell. 0/10 do not buy, the supposed 1 year warranty just gets you a broken unit sent back to you. Get the VPFET brand one instead as it seems to have higher compatibility and isn't plagued with the issue I have with this one.

Didn’t do what I needed.
It seems to be a quality product. I was advised by a factory representative that I could get RCA audio output by extracting it from my HDMI audio cable from my new Fire TV that doesn’t have any. Unfortunately, it didn’t do that, so I returned it for a refund. Update- after receiving the return, J-tech called me and gave me information on another extractor and said it will work, and it might. After reading the reviews where some said they had to set their TV to PCM audio for it to work, I decided to do something different or just forget it. When my Fire TV is set to PCM, the 5.1 Dolby sound system won’t work. I have too much invested in my system to take that chance and it’s too much trouble and distance to the drop off place to send it back if it doesn’t work.

Not working for me.
My goal was to extract audio from an ARC HDMI input on my Sony X90J tv. The device did not extract audio unless an input HDMI source was attached leaving me to know that it does not work with ARC, but only from input. I could do that from my input directly but that does not contain audio from the smart features. After a support email with the company they agreed on how it works. I returned the device. If you want to extract audio from HDMI input then the device is ok. One other note is that my audio was out of sync with the picture but it was due to the tv delaying the picture to process it.

It really works! And, the tech support is sublime!
Recently got a Samsung DU7200 replacing a 7+ year old Samsung. Had a Sonos attached to it with an optical cable. DU7200 does not have optical cable, but rather HDMI Arc. Did some research and found this. Simple instructions. Not being familiar with older soundbars and newer TVs, had a few questions for tech support. "Jewel" in their tech got back quickly and was great in helping out. And voila! Soundbar works. Only small issue (not J-Tech issue) is that Samsung TV remote will not work with older Sonos and HDMI hookup. But nice to not have to get a new soundbar.

Works great with 3rd Generation AppleTV 4K
I bought the JTD-350 to extract high resolution digital audio from the 3rd Generation AppleTV 4K for input via optical S/PDIF to a DAC. My AppleTV 4K is used with an older Samsung HDTV limited to 1080P SDR. I subscribe to the Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall and their service supports AppleTV 4K and provides 96 kHz 24 bit lossless format digital audio. I have high end audio components (DAC, headphone amp, headphones, speaker pre-amp and amp, and floor speakers), so I really wanted the best audio I could get from the AppleTV 4K device. I'm very pleased with the result. I had tried another J-Tech audio extractor (JTD-322) which was not compatible with the 3rd Generation AppleTV 4K, and J-Tech technical support was very prompt and helpful in directing me to the JTD-350.

Lifesaver
Used this to hook my PlayStation 5 up to my older Marantz receiver. Since Sony has removed its fiber optical output you're only option is to utilize the HDMI (ARK) for audio. This was a great solution to regain the optical output I needed for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound to my receiver, and maintain my 4K resolution to my OLED TV. The 4K resolution looks great and surround sound is amazing. I was pleasantly surprised that there was additional cables in the Box to help make necessary connections, couldn't be happier. Compared to some other brands I am glad this device has ventilation through it. I tried some other brands and they get way too hot for my comfort. This device stays much cooler, hence heat kills Electronics I expect it to last longer than its competition.

A PS5, a wireless headset, a live stream and a dream
If you're planning on streaming on a capture card but are playing on a PS5 with a wireless headset, this is it ! The PS5 cannot output the sound on USB AND HDMI at the same time, so this is the only way to basically have it all, game sound, voice chat working on PS5, sound in stream and video in your capture card at the same time !

No compatible con tcl Roku
Le conecte un Chromecast con Google tv y a un televisor tcl Roku y no me dió sonido envolvente. La salida óptica no manda audio solo la salida analógico. En el modo Arc no envia audio El televisor.
