Photomyne A4 Light Pad – Slide & Film Negative Scanning Viewer

Exactly what I was looking for! Simple to operate, large enough to review many slides simultaneously, easy to store.

Update: Within a few hours after first comment, the item was delivered. It's light weight. Illumination is bright. I don't mind it uses a USB power cord, nor plugging/unplugging to turn on/off. It was purchased to view 150+ negatives from the 1920s, '30s, and '40s, which are larger than 35mm negatives, and are individual negatives, not in strips, as well as view 35/110/etc negatives. The light pad has thus far served the intended purpose -- viewing, which is 5 stars. As far as "scanning" negatives per advertised description, you have to purchase the app(s), and the results vary. Overall, the black and white negatives (photos) have turned out okay. Only a handful are excellent. Having the actual photo of some of the negatives and comparing to the "scan", the detail and/or sharpness is not there in the 'scan'. The 35mm color negative scans are not usable for photos. However, you can identify who/what the photo is. Using the light pad, app photo quality appears to be excellent if taken of a photo. I can take a photo of a photo using iPhone that is of same quality. I've gotten top quality photos of photos using phone with natural light throughout the room via windows.. With the app, you have to hold the phone and press the button for three seconds, which there will be some movement. The only plus I see with the app is it automatically crops the photo. Editing can be done in free apps. I use FastStone Image Viewer. Be aware, if app(s) is not purchased, the photo cannot be saved to phone or shared during the three-day trial period. Overall, negatives will be identified that I want prints of and sent off to have them done professionally. The light pad will be useful in tracing designs in making quilting stencils. Though, I've managed 30 years without a light pad/box. If it's just a few 35mm only negatives to view, the light pad is pricey, but far less expensive than the 35mm negative viewers. The app is not worth the yearly subscription, in my opinion. Perhaps, Photomyne should include a one-, three-, or six-month free full subscription to the app with purchase of the light pad, or make the subscription a one time fee, not yearly. It may intice more folks, such as myself, to purchase the app(s). If having to assign stars for the app(s), it would be three. 9/23 I have no idea if it meets my expectations. The item was to be delivered on Monday, 9/21, then Tuesday. It's Wednesday. Now, it's stating "Delivery date currently unavailable." According to tracking info, it was processed 20 miles away, not just once but twice!

This is the second one I bought. My daughter needed a light for her father in laws slides and since I liked mine so much I bought her the same one. The brightest and design makes it perfect for looking at slides.

Worked great for multiple 35mm slide photos. Much better than unploading one by one to viewer. Simplified process with scan app. Works great!

Thin, lightweight portable light table especially for negatives and Kodachromes. Good flat surface for scanning prints, negatives and slides. Only one light intensity. Haven’t had long enough to evaluate reliability

I bought this to replace an old flourescent light table for using a copy stand and digital camera to scan negatives. The flourescent screen gave me 60 Hz interference patterns. This screen is bright and suitable for casual use. By itself there is a noticeable grid pattern from the screen in a high resolution scan. I use the plastic diffuser screen from the old light table on top of the Photomyne which solves that problem. I've added a black paper mask with a cutout for the negative size held down by a sheet of glass and place the negative holder on top. It's kind of a Yertle the Turtle pile of layers to manage, but it's working pretty well for black and white. There's no CRI info for the screen, so for color scans, expect to fight with color casts.

Me duró apenas un par de meses, no lo usé inmediatamente cuando me llegó porque tuve que mandar a revelar rollos, y ahora que le he estado dando uso constante, me dejó de servir, no prende...ya lo probé con distintos cables y nada. Una cosa a considerar, es que no tiene botón de encendido ni de intensidad...o está prendido o está apagado. Ahora, como ya pasó el tiempo, no podré devolverlo y necesito uno para digitalizar mis rollos. Simplemente dejó de prender...no lo recomiendo.
