Easy, slim, large and functional
Exactly what I was looking for! Simple to operate, large enough to review many slides simultaneously, easy to store.

Lacks an on/off switch and brightness controller
Easy to use and super bright. That's what you want for a slide viewer, right? Well, maybe. In this case, the price is right, so no complaints there. But sometimes "too bright" is a problem. And having to plug it in and unplug it to turn it on and off is rather inconvenient. I wish it had a dimmer switch, or at least an on/off switch. However, with no switches or dimmers, there is no need for instructions and therefore it's easy to use. Just plug it in and it's on. The high-intensity light always brings a "Whoa!" from someone else in the room, and even from me, the user! Fortunately, it gets its power from USB. I have a USB hub with switches for each port, so I can turn it on and off with the switch on the USB hub. Would be nice to have a touch-screen on/off and dimmer, especially at night when it just doesn't need to be so bright. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about this slide viewer/sorter. It has a large size (8.5 by 12 inch illuminated area) and allows up to 24 (4 rows x 6 columns of 35 mm) slides to be comfortably viewed at the same time. The light is very uniform. The bright light and large size makes it useful for lots of different projects (tracing pictures, inspecting glass and optical filters for defects, lighting a room during a power fail using a battery with a USB port). Not sure yet about its longevity, but I can recommend this product to others based on its low-cost, ease of use, and multi-use versatility. Bring your own power switch! It works well in an office or other separated work room. If you use it at home in your living room or other common area, just be sure to warn others in the room before turning it on!

Great product
This is the second one I bought. My daughter needed a light for her father in laws slides and since I liked mine so much I bought her the same one. The brightest and design makes it perfect for looking at slides.

Totally worth the price!
Perfect size for laying out multiple slides, prints and negatives. Lighting sure beats what we have. Now I can tackle digitizing bins full of slides, etc.

Portable light table
Thin, lightweight portable light table especially for negatives and Kodachromes. Good flat surface for scanning prints, negatives and slides. Only one light intensity. Haven’t had long enough to evaluate reliability

Okay For Hobbyists - More of a gimmick than a serious tool for photographers.
The specs for this in its Amazon ad state the power source is "corded electric", leaving the buyer to think it has a cord to plug into an electric outlet. It doesn't. You have to connect this to your computer via USB, which can be REALLY inconvenient. If the top of your desk is already crowded with CPU, monitor, printer, keyboard, and a wi-fi router, this takes up needed space. Plus the little USB connector is so small, it's difficult to connect it to the light table. When I say this is "okay for hobbyists", that's exactly what I mean. You aren't going to get a really good print from any negative or slide you "scan" using any sort of scanning app. The company DOES say this isn't a scanning device, but they use the words "scans" and "scanning" so much, it's easy for people who don't know what real scanning is to get fooled. You're essentially making a photograph of a negative which you then have to import into some sort of image editing software to turn it into a positive that you can adjust for tonality and color. In other words, making a photo of a negative is a useless task. If you want a serious scan, you need a dedicated scanner that scans at high resolution. With this thing, you're just making a photograph of a photograph...and we all know how well that works, don't we? Really, about all this is good for (for me) is taking quick looks at negatives to decide which ones I want to work on in a program such as Photoshop or Lightroom. When I'm not using it for that, it sits on a table away from my work space. When I look at it, it reminds me I should have bought something else.

Perfectly even light and much better than a computer screen.
