I have picked up a great deal of trash here in Korea outside of our business. There is no shortage of cigarette butts and all sorts of other trash. The only thing that I recommend is that you don't press extremely hard with the tool as a compacting device. Our local friend tried that and ended up breaking one. Thus, I have another 2-pack parked in my shopping cart. **Q: Does this device have locking jaws?** A: No they do not. I own the folding version, same exact jaws. **Q: How wide are the jaws?** A: When open, the jaws are 4 inches in width (10 cm). These grabbers are exceptionally good at picking up the smallest item from the floor. I can enthusiastically recommend them. **Q: How much weight can this hold?** A: I wouldn’t pick up more than roughly 1lb with any grabber not designed for large objects. Not what this is meant for.
