I recently got the Sillbird STEM Robot Building Kit and it’s been a fantastic experience. The building process is engaging and keeps you entertained for hours, making it perfect for kids and even adults who enjoy hands-on projects. One of the best things about this kit is how it combines fun with learning. It helps develop STEM skills like problem-solving, creativity, and basic engineering concepts. Many versions even include remote control or app control features, which makes the finished robot interactive and exciting to use. The instructions are generally easy to follow, and the pieces fit together well. Once built, the robot feels sturdy and performs nicely. It’s also great that some models offer multiple builds, so you can rebuild and enjoy different designs. That said, it can be a bit challenging for younger kids without help, and patience is definitely needed during assembly. My 9-year old son received this robot build from Santa this year and spent two days straight building. Took about 7-8 in total build time and he was able to complete the build by himself minus a few times when he need help putting a couple of pieces together. The one downside is the coding and remote control app is out dated and no longer works but the manual remote works just fine. Would recommend for anyone who likes these type of builds.

Got this as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old. She loves robots and she spent most of Christmas morning building it. It's a very challenging build, but one that she accepted. There were a few steps where she wanted help. I gave 3 stars on the Remote because the remote that came with our set was actually broken. It didn't have the batter spring so we couldn't control the completed toy. However, we contact customer support through Amazon and the seller gladly sent us a replacement remote. Very friendly support and shipment was quick despite coming from China during their major lock down end of last year.

We bought this for my 13 year olds birthday. He loves it. It was challenging to out together but he likes the challenge. And it is great because it can be controlled by a remote control or you can download the app on a phone or tablet and it can have some basic programming to control it.

This is very lego-like. Many of the pieces could have come out of the same factory molds. The pieces custom to this kit, however, seemed to have a lower durability. The track if assembled/disassembled more than a time or two won’t stay together any longer. One kit we received had a light missing part of its assembly, and it was also missing a couple other random parts. The pieces are bagged in numbered bags with large numbers, except several of the bags don’t have visible numbers (but if you look very closely those bags are numbered in a tiny part number on the bag). Assembly was ok, certainly not easy but not so difficult that I was frustrated. My almost-first grader was able to assemble most of it with help with some of the assembling and guidance support. A few of the pictures in the instructions are not super clear, but the intended step can usually be inferred. There were a few times I needed to disassemble a sub assembly and snap it to the larger piece in segments. Several of the pieces act like they were never intended to be disassembled (axels, track) so I’d consider this to be a “one time build”.

This is a fun building kit for kids who enjoy both construction sets and remote-controlled vehicles. With 473 pieces, there is quite a bit to put together, so patience is definitely required. There are 3 different designs to choose from, giving kids more than one way to use the set. The combination of building, driving, and experimenting with the different functions makes it more engaging than a typical building kit. The rechargeable battery means you don't have to keep buying replacement batteries for the vehicle. However, the battery is inconvenient to access and requires a proprietary cable to charge. The remote control requires 3 AAA batteries, which were not included with my kit. Even after several attempts, the remote would not sync with the motor assembly. I contacted customer service, and they responded via email and shipped another remote to replace the faulty unit. One headlight was also missing, so they shipped a replacement for that as well. The motor/steering unit was verified to be working properly by using the phone app instead, which worked without any issues. The Bluetooth app adds some interesting options beyond the regular remote. You can control the vehicle from your phone, use gyroscope control by tilting the device, draw a path for the car to follow, and experiment with basic coding functions. This is a good choice for kids who like building and technology. The assembly takes some time because of the number of pieces. There are 3 designs available for this kit, giving kids several options for how they want to build and use it. The toy's main limitations are the inconvenient access to the charging port and the fact that the controller would not sync with the motor assembly.

My grand daughter is turning 8 in a few weeks. She loves building with Lego robots and movie theme sets and she is ready to graduate into building more challenging toy sets. I am giving her this Sillbird car robot building kit for her birthday, I can't wait to see the excitement on her face. This Sillbird car robot building set has 473 pieces for constructing 3 different models ( only one model can be build at a time ). There are 6 packages of parts sorted by size and function, 2 electric motors with rechargeable battery, one remote control which requires 3 AAA batteries ( not included ) and an instruction manual. What I like about this building kit: The instruction manual is very well organized. There are 3 Models to choose from to start building. Once you have selected which model to start, A, B or C. Go to the start page of that model and follow the step by step sequence. Page 1 for Model A, page 28 for Model B and page 56 for Model C. Each step is clearly numbered with the quantity of parts, shape and colour as needed for building this step. For parts which have similar shape but different size, a 1:1 scaled picture of the part is shown on the bottom of the page, put the part against the picture to match for the correct part. By following the steps listed in the instruction, it is easy to pause at any time and pickup where you left off to complete the project. This Sillbird building race car kit will help her to develop her hand eye coordination and shape recognition skill. Some parts in this kit require the use of an included tool, this process of using the tool will help her to develop hand skill for operating with tools. Each model requires many inter connecting parts to form the final structural shape which will support mechanical motion with the electric motors, this is a good introduction to robotics and engineering for the inspired youngster. The final reward for completing this project is playing with the robot using the remote control. I look forward to many hours of fun with my grand daughter to build a robot with this Sillbird building kit. This building kit is a great educational toy to inspire the youngster for their interest in robotics and engineering. At a reasonable price, much lower price than a similar name brand building kit, I highly recommend this Sillbird building kit.
