What kind of batteries does this use?

I just received my hat today and in the package is a paper which states that it requires 8, AG10 1.5 V button cell batteries (included). 4 batteries in each battery pack.

How do I get the lights out? They are all bundled on top inside the hat

When I bought it, I thought the lights would trail down and light the tendrils. I don't think that's the way it's designed. I think only the top lights up.
