Kids camera with games and add storage ability
I bought this pink and a blue camera for my grand children for Disney. This camera allows the kids to not only take pictures but also allows them to play games. This has a binocular style viewer for picture taking. They is an expansion slot for an SD card. This is excellent for the kiddos. The color of this pink one is wonderful and adorable. My granddaughter loves it. The size is perfect for travel and use.

A great kids camera
I gifted my grandson with this camera on his fourth birthday. He was using my daughter's phone to take pictures so it was high time for him to have his own camera. After receiving it, I played with the camera some to learn about it (so I could show him how to use it) and to ensure it was of good quality. I was not disappointed in the least. This camera is durable and will withstand being dropped. I got the 2MB version of this camera despite there being a 5MB version available. After I added a memory card to the camera (this was optional as the camera comes with memory) my grandson can take thousands of pictures with it. I found the ease of use with the buttons to work well, even for a four year old. The photo editing features in this camera are absurd. It comes with something like 70 of them. I have five cameras of my own - adult cameras - and I don't have the features this Vtech camera comes with. My grandson soon learned to have fun editing pictures to make them look fun and goofy. There are five games built into this camera and my daughter says he plays with them a lot and has one as his favorite. The other nice thing of this camera is that after three minutes of inactivity, it turns off. That saves big time on battery consumption, which my daughter (probably any parent) finds to be an issue. Toys are left running and batteries then become exhausted. The quality of pictures is good, but remember - they are just 2MB pictures. While some may "blast" this camera for that fact - it is a KIDS CAMERA and allows them the opportunity to learn how to take pictures. At four years old I kinda doubt my grandson needs a camera with higher megapixels and better sensor - it is much more important to get started in the world of photography and this camera does just that. Do I recommend this camera? Absolutely. I hope that as my grandson enjoys using his camera that he and I can go out on a photo walk someday. Maybe at the zoo!

Made for Kids But Not a "Toy" Camera
My 5 year old granddaughter always wants to use my DSLR camera and has asked for a video camera so she can create a vlog. That makes me smile because she can't read and write yet but she wants to post videos online. Kids! I wanted a sturdy camera for her that is made for kids but is not a "toy." The VTech Kidizoom DUO met all my requirements. When she opened it on Christmas morning, she screamed with joy then said, "Is this a toy?" I explained that it is a real camera made for kids to learn with and that I would show her how to use it after she finished opening her other gifts. She was not interested in opening anything else and taught herself to use the camera on photo and video in 2 minutes! She was adding borders to the pictures and discovered the games too. A few days later I was asking her about Christmas and she said her best gift was the camera. This camera is sturdy and has survived many falls (it was under the couch when I visited recently). It is very easy to learn and is fun to use. I believe she took around 1,200 pictures before maxing out the memory. When it gets full, we just delete the less than perfect pictures. The batteries last pretty long considering how much the camera is used. We have not printed any of her photos yet but what we view on the screen is very high quality.

Best kid's camera out there (but it's also the only kid's camera)
It's the best kids camera out there, and overall it's pretty great. However, I think it's a little too complicated and over loaded and could be easier to use. The features are fun, but the navigation is clunky. Also, it's not easy to look back through your photos, which is half the fun of having a digital camera. This was a gift for two 2.5 year olds, and they're three now. They have always liked the cameras, but I think they've had a hard time getting into it because it's hard to use. They really want a camera because their dad (me) is using one all the time. I knew it was too old for them, and I have adjusted my expectations for them and for the camera accordingly. Pros: + Durable. It's not going to break, and it's hard for the kids to get anything on the tiny lens that is in a deep pocket. + Nice weight: It doesn't feel like junk. It's totally solid and feels good and has great grip. + Amazing battery life. In three months we've replaced the batteries once, and they've taken perhaps 500 or so pictures (mostly of the ground). + Uses AA batteries! No exotic batteries here! + YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN SD CARD (this is the best thing about it IMO) + Although it's complicated, a lot of the features are really fun and creative and mentally stimulating. I like the weird mirror mosaic feature that makes it look like a kaleidoscope. The selfie modes are funny, the "focus ring" effects are awesome, and the "shake to make things happen" like bubbles appear or whatever is really a great idea. The creativity is really a 10/10, it just needed more editing! Cons: - Too complicated, too many options in too many menus. - The buttons could be much more intuitive, like the flash on/off would be much better as a switch. - If you actually want to use options it's clunky to do so. I find that I have to navigate back through whole menus to find where I was if I want to try different options in sequence. - It's a little too big for little hands, they have a hard time reaching the shutter button,

Yes!!! Child friendly REAL DIGITAL CAMERA
I LOVE this camera. I bought this for my granddaughter to use. She is 4 years old and loves using mommy's camera. She will soon have a new baby brother and wanted something of her own. This takes clear pictures and is simple to use (even for ME) It requires 4 AA batteries, two in each side. Don't mix up the battery covers... They only fit on their correct sides. It has a double view finder she will look through like binoculars, so no squinting through a single site. It is appropriately sized for young hands, and while I'm sure it is breakable, it does seem sturdy. Once a photo is taken, it is easy to view on the screen. There are fun treatments for selfies and pictures of friends the kids will love, and it is simple to scroll through and delete. Mommy and Daddy can add a memory card, or just use the camera memory and the provided cable for putting on Mommy's computer. There's a place for her to make digital voice recordings and also videos. I've read some concerns about the games, but I actually like the games very much. They are basic simple games that will actually improve some of her motor skills (imo) Intetesting enough that she will want to play them sometimes but not overly absorbing. Perfect for those times on vacation when photos aren't being taken but a child needs to be occupued (on a bus or train for example... Why bring an extra toy?) In settings you can make them inaccessible if you prefer. The games give you the option of toggling for control or tipping the whole unit right left up or down. Did I mention that the pink design I chose is adorable and my granddaughter will love it?? There's a little wrist strap included that can go on either side (or you can purchase camera straps that go around the neck and hook on both sides for just a few dollars, which is what I will do) Overall I say WELL DONE! If you are on the wall about this purchase, jump in. I love the thing. I was anxious about setting it up for her but there is NOTHING to it. Even the least techno savvy grabdma will be able to do it. Definitely anyone who has used a digital camera.

Durable
This has got to be the most durable kid camera out there. We have used them with each kid and start them out around 2 getting their first camera. My kiddos love taking pictures and I love their individual creativity along with watching them get better and better over the years. My oldest, almost 10, is a great photographer. These cameras have withstood drops from 2+ feet, being thrown (although thankfully not often), and even rain/inclement weather. I highly recommend getting a memory card and carrying case to accompany it. That way you won't have to delete pictures as often. With the many carrying cases on Amazon you can find one that is a cool color/style your kiddo will love. Ours fits the camera securely with velcro strap, and is padded for accidental drops while traveling. It can even hold extra batteries which is nice. It takes 4 'AA' batteries and doesn't drain them too fast, which is awesome. I feel it's worth the price & I have even found a cheaper one that was returned & it was like new, although if you do return it a friendly reminder...don't forget to delete your pictures for privacy...I made sure to delete all that was on there from some other kiddos birthday. Definitely highly recommend!

Perfect gift for 5 yr old
Nice size for 5 yr old girl. Good gift for birthday. Fast speed and records like a real adult one. WiFi connectivity and water resistant so far.

Great Camera for Kids
If it lasts a year or two it will be worth the money. Our 3 year old is always wanting to play around with our smartphone and take photos (and use up our memory). This little camera gives her the freedom to take her own pictures. Vetch makes a less expensive version but it doesn’t have flash or a rear facing camera for selfies. This camera does at a higher price but I think it is worth it. With an additional memory card hundreds of photos can be taken. This camera also has a zoom function and some creative photo options as well as some rudimentary games. Some reviews have balked at the fact that it requires 4 AA batteries to operate but I consider that an advantage. Proprietary batteries cost a small fortune to replace if they go bad and also require a plug in charger to keep up with. If you purchase 8 rechargeable AA batteries and a wall charger you can have 4 in the camera and 4 in the wall charger ready to go when needed. The camera is very intuitive and most children three and up should have no trouble figuring out how to operate it in a couple of hours with adult instruction. The camera seems to be armored well for accidental drops and kid play but nothing is indestructible. I would keep it away from water also.

Misleading product info
My son loves the camera but the main product information at the top of the page is wrong and miss sells the product. The stills are not ‘16mp’ but ‘2mp’ and the video recording is not 1080, it is 320 x 240 which is not even close. Given Vtech are a large global brand it is a shame that they do not endure the product detail at the top of the page is correct. The camera does feel robust and is the right size for his hands.
