Exceeded my expectations! This is competitive or better than units twice as expensive.
I had my concerns. My wife and I had 2 Dysons in a row spanning about 5 years total. I assumed we were too spoiled to get something half the cost. The Dysons are great and all, but this Ryobi is better at half the cost. It’s easier to clean out, much more versatile - if you have more than one Ryobi battery (and if you have one you probably have several) then the battery life is basically unlimited unlike the Dyson which had to be re-hung on the wall to charge when the battery died. Not surprisingly the lack of easily swappable batteries in the Dyson encouraged using it to the last drop and then the batteries didn’t last more than about 12-18 months. With the Ryobi, you can swap batteries and not push them too hard for too long to make them last a lot longer. It’s powerful. Maybe not quite as powerful as the Dysons, or maybe it’s just not as loud. Our floors are equally clean for sure. Plus we could never get the right spare parts for the Dyson. Anything I can get onto the Ryobi platform I’m into since parts and accessories are so widely available and it makes buying more and larger Ryobi batteries more practical. Highly recommend. This thing punches well above its price point.

This one's a keeper!
I have a Great Pyrenees and if you know this breed of dog you know how they lose hair. It is a constant battle to prevent your home looking like a refugee from a Christmas card scene. I had a stick vacuum but in this war it was about the most useless weapon in the armoury. I could use it for a minute or two before it clogged with hair throughout and I would spend longer cleaning the vacuum than I would cleaning the floor. I bought this Ryobi largely because of experience with their battery powered garden tools which are always well designed and worked well. This Ryobi stick vacuum reinforces that experience. Yes, I have to empty the dust trap a couple of times but the vacuum works and I can have the clumps of hair dealt with in a few minutes. The hair goes where it should go and doesn't end up clogging the pipes and tubes of the vacuum like the previous one. Within one use I had called a friend and offered them my old stick vacuum because this one's a keeper!

Lightweight, easy to maneuver but wish it had more suction power.
The Ryobi stick vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver and the batteries last for a decent amount of time before needing to be recharged. The suction power is good, but I wish it was better. It is great for getting dust and small particles from carpet, but it has difficulty if the particle size increases to the size of a small black-oil sunflower seed (from filling a bird feeder).

Works great for us
Lots of different reviews but we have batteries for ryobi so I decided to try it. It’s light weight and easy to maneuver. We have two Chesapeake bay retrievers and a cat and it helps keep the hair at bay along with our robot army that doesn’t get everywhere.. not to mention kids messes. I think that for the price this is a great addition to your house especially if you already own the batteries.

Do not buy this if you have dogs, plugs constantly.
I postponed writing a review hoping that I was using it wrong and that is why I was having issues with this. I have an old dog that can't do slick floors, so I have rug runners in my kitchen and hallway. I purchased this hoping that I could use this on the runners to suck up the dirt etc. instead of hauling out the big vacuum. It plugs with just a minimal amount of dirt, and dog hair. Does not have enough suction to keep it from plugging.
