Soft and comfortable. Glides smoothly. I use this chair several times a day for nursing, reading to my children and just relaxing. Both fabric and padding have held up well to regular use. I've never found the lumbar support to be inadequate though I could see how some might. I'm 5'9", size 12 and fit well. Husband does also and he's a bit bigger than I am. No regrets here! Great for the price!UPDATE: I've now had this chair for over 3 years and it's holding up remarkably well to regular use. Cushions are still firm and the fabric looks great!
