Universal 3-in-1 Combination Laptop Lock, Computer Security Locking Cable - Resettable Version (K62316WW), Black

Need this when I set up a laptop computer under the open hood of my show car, displaying a looping Playlist of relevant videos. Easy to set up, & take down at the shows end. Always like the quality of Kensington products. A little more expensive compared to other brands, but worth it - IMHO.

These are cool locks securing your electronic devices.

I've been using the product just for several days, so I can not give a final rating. I can say the product work as expected and the description and pictures of the ad matched.

I purchased this to use with different computers. The Kensington tips were not easy to install. The worst part was the combination tumblers slipped out of position after I set the combination and I could not open the lock. I called the company direct, explained my situation several times, and was told that there was nothing they could do and to return the item to Amazon. Good thing I did not install the lock in the computer; it would have been a nightmare for the locksmith to remove.

As you'd expect for a name-brand product, this is thoughtfully designed and well-documented. An easy five stars if the delivered item had met basic quality expectations. Unfortunately, it didn't even stand up to what I'd expect for cheap, off-brand items. (1) The set screw that retains your choice of the three different docking adapters into the lock simply broke off when I twisted it. Maybe I turned it in the wrong direction? I'm pretty careful with small mechanical stuff like this so I don't think I mishandled it. The lock still works, though, as long as I remember to hold the adapter in place when the mechanism is unlocked. (2) Changing the combination requires twisting a locking pin that sinks in and pushes in some cylindrical piece in the tumblers. Unfortunately, the outside opening for the pin in my unit was poorly molded, so the pin stayed inside the case when I untwisted it. I had to carefully scrape out part of the housing to allow the pin to extend to its operating position, at which point the lock finally worked again. I'm keeping the thing, as I'm sure it will be as secure as advertised when in use, but I feel like maybe I would have had an easier time with a cheap knock-off. If Kensington fixes the manufacturing quality it will be a five-star product.

This is actually a pretty dawn bad product. Documentation is definitely lacking. The idea of a universal lock is great, but the implementation of three interchangeable heads that share it's physical released from the device, along with the unlocking laptop. That part of the locking mechanism isn't secure enough and just guarantees you're going to lose it as it pops out when you release your laptop. Also I don't like the idea of needing a flathead with me all the time just in case I need to resecure the lockhead or reset the combination. Also it's too easy mistakenley and unknowingly move the tumblers as you're trying to operate the lever. Hence, I end it up with a couple of false starts having accidentally set unknown combinations for the device before I could put a real combination in. That was fun. (Yes i'm being a bit sarcastic because it was so annoying.)

Bought it because my old standard Kensington Cable Lock does not fit my new Laptop with nano-sized slot. Works as advertised.

Funciona perfectamente

Ottimo acquisto in funzione soprattutto di non vedersi sparire da sotto il naso il portatile per l'assenza di un minuto dal luogo di lavoro. Ben inteso è solo un deterrente e non un sistema super sicuro. Dico deterrente perché col tira e molla che farebbe un ladro, di certo attirerebbe l'attenzione della gente intorno il che non avrebbe senso rischiare grosso per un laptop usato. Altro discorso invece è lasciar incustodito il portatile in un luogo isolato perché non ci sarebbe lucchetto o deterrente che tenga. Detto ciò il sistema in questione mi sembra ben fatto, molto ben rifinito anche visto il prezzo non proprio economico, e direi anche robusto, almeno la parte della corda d'acciaio sicuramente. Il blocco a combinazione è ben congegnato, ma è chiaramente il punto debole e d'altronde non potrebbe essere diversamente. Questa versione 3 in 1 è secondo me la migliore per praticità in quanto può essere usato per 3 attacchi diversi. Al momento mi serve la standard, ma in futuro chissà! Recensione scritta naturalmente sulle prime impressioni, però tra qualche tempo quando avrò avuto modo di testare bene questo guinzaglio per pc riporterò eventualmente le criticità oppure ulteriori pregi. L'ho potuto provare meglio ed ho rilevato alcune cose: l'attacco è semplice ed è piuttosto largo, nel senso che c'è distanza tra la scocca del portatile e il blocco metallico. A far da ammortizzatore tra i due c'è un gommino morbido inserito sull'inserto. Pensandoci su non poteva essere diversamente perché un collegamento rigido col movimento del pc si potrebbe danneggiare la zona di attacco. Infine, la combinazione ritengo sia semplice da azionare, basta rimanere seduti.
